Guide to different Australian visa options for international citizens.
"I completed my studies in Australia —now what?" If you are wondering this, this blog is just for you.

If you have just completed your course in Australia and are wondering what to do next, don't worry, we have got you covered. We wrote this blog for international citizens who have completed their course and are wondering about various visa options available in Australia. So, without further ado, let's get to it.
Option 1: Return Home from Australia After Completing Your Course
After spending years in a foreign country studying, you might want to return home. This option is available to you if you wish to return to your home country or if you have any conditions that prevent you from staying further in Australia.
Option 2: Stay In Australia After Completing Your Course with Different Types of Visas
As per the Department of Home Affairs of Australia, there are a variety of other visa options for international citizens who have completed their required course in Australia, which may include, but are not limited to:
Visitor visa (Subclass 600)
This option is available to international citizens who wish to stay in Australia for up to 12 months after completion of their course. You could use this visa for any reason, such as enjoying the culture and nature of Australia without worrying about studying, etc.
Training visa (Subclass 407):
This visa is for individuals who wish to increase their skills/train in the professional workplace in their respective fields of expertise/study. It is valid for up to 2 years.
Please visit the official DHA site to check if you are eligible.
Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)
As per the Australian government, this visa option is available to you if:
You have completed an Australian CRICOS-registered course.
You are under the age of 35.
You have had an eligible and valid student visa in the last 6 months.
Other requirements as per necessity.
Permanent options may include, but are not limited to:
Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 489)
This is a temporary visa for skilled workers seeking to live and work in a specified region of Australia. You can stay and work in Australia for up to 4 years (But you can apply for Australian PR through other subclass visas). Dependents are allowed.
Skilled Regional (Permanent) visa (subclass 887)
This is a permanent visa for skilled individuals who have lived in (through a legal pathway) and wish to live in specified regions of Australia. There are not many limitations of this visa; one thing to consider is that every 5 years, you are required to renew the travel component (if you wish to travel). Remember, dependents are also allowed.
Employer Nomination Scheme visa (Subclass 186)
This is a visa for skilled individuals (whose skills fall on the core skills occupation list and are nominated by their employer) to live and work permanently in Australia. It also requires you to renew the travel component every 5 years if you wish to travel outside Australia. It also allows dependents.
Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190)
This visa is similar to the Subclass 186. This visa is also available to skilled individuals who are nominated; however, there are additional things you must prepare for, such as the skilled list and skill assessment. This visa also requires you to renew the travel component every 5 years (if you wish to travel). This visa also allows dependents.
Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189)
This visa is for skilled individuals who are invited and possess skills that match the Skilled Occupation List, to live and work permanently in Australia. This is a point-tested stream, which means that you must achieve the required number of points to qualify for this visa. Other aspects of this visa are similar to other permanent visas.
