Introduction

Data science and artificial intelligence are two of the most talked-about topics in today’s world. But what exactly do they mean? And how do they relate to each other?

In this article, we’ll give you an overview of what data science is and how it relates to artificial intelligence (AI). We’ll also look at some examples of how these emerging fields have been used in real life, so that you can see for yourself just how far-reaching their influence has become.

History of Data Science and AI

Data science is a relatively new field, but it has a long history of development. The first computer was invented in 1837 by British mathematician Charles Babbage. In the 1930s and 1940s, Alan Turing developed his ideas about artificial intelligence (AI) at Princeton University and other institutions.

In 1950, John von Neumann published “The General and Logical Theory of Automata,” which introduced the idea that computers could be programmed to perform tasks normally done by humans — and even make decisions like humans do. This led directly to today’s concept of machine learning: AI systems that learn from experience without being explicitly programmed by humans.

In 1956, American mathematician Claude Shannon published “A Mathematical Theory of Communication,” which laid out principles for encoding information into binary digits (bits). These principles form the foundation for modern digital communication technologies such as radio waves or fiber optics cables used today for everything from cellphones to satellites orbiting Earth’s atmosphere!

Applications of Data Science and AI

Data science and artificial intelligence are two of the most exciting fields in technology today. As you will see, they have applications in almost every industry: healthcare, finance, entertainment and more.

The following are examples of how data science and AI are being used in the real world:

Data scientists at Uber have created a tool called “Surge Pricing” that uses machine learning algorithms to determine when prices should go up or down based on demand at any given moment. If there’s high demand for rides during rush hour when it’s raining outside then you may have to pay more than usual because there aren’t enough drivers available to meet all those requests!

Data science and artificial intelligence will continue to shape the world. The potential implications for the future are endless, but we can already see some of them coming to fruition:

AI-powered robots will take over most manual labor jobs, leaving millions unemployed.

Automated traffic systems will reduce congestion on our roads by an estimated 90%.

Virtual assistants in our homes will manage our schedules and help us with tasks like cooking dinner or cleaning up after pets (and maybe even children)
