Control Your Diet
The connection between diet and spiritual sensitivity. Here's a breakdown of the changes made:
Activate Your Spiritual Sensitivity: Control Your Diet
One of the key factors influencing spiritual sensitivity is your diet. Many spiritual issues stem from how you eat. Fasting, for example, is not just about abstaining from food but about gaining control over your will and body. Fasting breaks the flesh, allowing your spirit to come forward, and trains you to manage your physical body. This control is crucial for spiritual growth.
The Bible also says, "I discipline my body and bring it into subjection" (1 Corinthians 9:27). This discipline is crucial for spiritual growth, as it ensures that your will, guided by the Spirit, controls your life.
To activate your spiritual sensitivity, start by controlling your diet. This physical discipline paves the way for heightened spiritual awareness and a deeper connection with God.
I recall a time when I was extremely tired, and God instructed me to go to my prayer room. Despite my exhaustion, I obeyed. After a couple of hours of deep prayer, I realized that my tiredness had vanished. This experience taught me that God wanted me to learn to override my physical limitations and focus on my spiritual needs.
Your stomach should not control you. If you can't control your stomach, how can you control external situations or even the devil? God isn't against eating; everything is good if received with thanksgiving. The issue is whether your stomach or your will controls your life. Your spiritual needs should override your physical ones.
When Jesus was in the wilderness, the devil tested Him based on His physical weakness. After fasting for 40 days, the devil tempted Jesus to turn rocks into bread. Though Jesus was hungry, He responded, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from God." This response shifted His focus from the physical to the spiritual, helping Him sustain His physical body.
Undisciplined people rarely succeed because they can't control themselves. If you can't organize your own life, how can you handle greater responsibilities? To activate your spiritual nature, your stomach must not rule you. Train your body to follow your will, not the other way around.
For instance, if you decide to exercise, your body might resist, preferring comfort. But your will should drive you towards healthier habits. The body always prefers easy and pleasurable things, but developing your spiritual nature requires overcoming these tendencies.
The Bible says that whoever can rule over their own spirit can control their body. This control extends to spiritual capabilities. For example, the prophet Elisha could see events happening elsewhere with his spirit. Such spiritual sensitivity requires discipline over the physical body.
Living a fasted life doesn't mean constant fasting but controlling your diet and portions. Eating less can increase your energy more than overeating. Many ancient cultures practiced intermittent fasting long before it became a health trend. Even non-religious spiritual practices recognize that food can block spiritual growth.
Fasting is not merely abstaining from food but training to control your body and will. Romans 8:13 states, "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."
The Bible mentions that out of our bellies shall flow rivers of living water, indicating that our spirit resides in our core. Overeating can block this spiritual flow.
To enhance your spiritual sensitivity, begin by controlling your diet. This discipline sets you on the path to greater spiritual awareness. Understanding this concept is vital for spiritual growth and development.
Type amen! Shalom.
