The Gran Vía is one of the most important avenues in Madrid, and it's also a popular tourist attraction. The narrow street features shops and restaurants, as well as several museums that are open on weekends.
Gran Vía has been known for its nightclubs since the 1950s, when it was still known as Ruta del Sur (South Route). Today it's an important meeting place for people who want to be seen by others or just hang out with friends.
