Organizing for Success via Berkeley College

What would you tell your younger self? If I could speak to my younger self, I would say this.. An education is a must for this cold cold world baby girl.
Sadly, we live in a world that will take advantage of someone’s lack of education. The best way to defend yourself in today’s world is by seeking an education. I am very proud of myself for continuing my studies at Berkeley College.
Although my major was Healthcare Administration, my business classes intrigued me. I am happy to have kept my notes and now I share them with the world!
Today’s lesson has to do with organizing for success. Did you know that most people often make decisions without organizing? Human behavior sure is interesting but without proper planning, failure is guaranteed.
Why do that to yourself? Why don’t you organize instead?
How can you organize your business? Create a chart, I have a chalkboard.
My daughter’s chalkboard has turned into my business board. The “Organization Chart” depicts the positions of the firm & the way they are arranged. The chart or (chalkboard) provides a picture of the reporting structure, (whom reports to whom) and the various activities that are carried out by different individuals.
Most companies have official organization charts drawn up to give people this information.
Since I run my business from home, I use a chalkboard. Everything on the board must be completed and I am quite proud of our success. This is great practice for when it’s time to take the show on the road or when we have an actual office to work from.
You must be organized in order to run a successful business.
The Vibe Podcast has grown to more than just a Podcast, so much so that we will be amending the name!

For a business to be successful you need to be an organized individual and there must be some sort of structure.. even in the business of entertainment, you must be organized and you must have structure.
What kind of structure? The vertical structure. There are four dimensions of a firms vertical structure.
Authority, Span of Control, Delegation & Centralization shape the company’s reporting relationship, responsibility & accountability.
I’ll add that trademarking your brand and/or idea is super helpful in this as it gives you a blueprint in how to run your business. You can always refer to your documents. This is a great way to refresh your memory when you get any kind of blockage. And a great tool for references on any legal issues that may arise. The best way to protect yourself and your brand is by applying for a Trademark.
For now it’s just myself and my son running the show but it is of high importance that we set the example for our future and it all starts with the self. I cannot expect from others what I don’t put in myself. Our company started from 6ft under and has been founded on truth. I will not jeopardize this for anyone, so I must be the example.
Formal position authority is generally the primary means of running an organization. An order that a boss gives to a lower-level employee is usually carried out. As this occurs throughout day after day, the organization can move forward & achieve its goals.
These are facts on facts!
However, authority is an organization is not always position dependent.
Sadly I’ve seen people at my former places of employment own their titles but not their position.
Please do not be one of those people.. your title is just a name tag. A name tag holds no value, however the position does. Why do we have such low class individuals in high positions?? Beats me, that’s why I started my own business.
People with particular expertise, experience or personal qualities may have considerable *Informal Authority* in other words; please respect your employees. Scientists in research companies for example or employees that are computer savvy. I repeat, please respect your employees.
Authority is directly related to the three broad levels of the organizational pyramid, commonly called the Hierarchy. Span of Control & the number of subordinates who report to an executive or supervisor.
I share my Berkeley College notes in the hopes for better management in today’s workforce. I have been a victim of bullying at the job and I am happy to have started my own company.. what saddens me is that this is the norm for some folks and I’m here to stop that disturbing behavior. I am here to report that some folks really just want to work.. nothing more.. nothing less. Please respect your employees and if you are a victim, please know that you do not have to tolerate disrespect of any form at the workplace. Your boss’s title means nothing, please contact your local Human Rights Office and report your employer immediately. Thank you.
