Lifestyle is a simple word today, but it is way more complex to understand. If we go and search on Google for the definition, it will suggest the way that you live. But think for a minute: are we living the correct way? According to the WHO, 60% of related factors to individual health and quality of life are correlated with lifestyle. Millions of people have an unhealthy lifestyle and hence face many problems like illness, obesity, health-related issues, and even death. According to a study, it has already been said that a good lifestyle has a significant influence on the physical and mental health of human beings. So, it’s not just a simple problem, but a major issue that the world is facing. Who knows? Maybe this problem will become worse later on and there won’t be a solution.

Reflecting on the Past

Let’s discuss in detail if we dive into the past, where the lifestyle was considered the most disciplined aspect of their existence. Brahma Muhurta, which means the early morning period between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., is considered the time to perceive knowledge. Not only does waking during this time improve immunity, raise energy levels, and rid our bodies of diseases, but it also lengthens our lives. Before clocks and electricity, our ancestors woke with the sun and went to sleep when it got dark. They eat breakfast, lunch, and supper at the appropriate times. They don’t eat leftovers, and their healthy lifestyle has kept them both mentally and physically strong. But if we come back to the present, are we truly doing as our forefathers did? The answer is NO.

We are simply disobeying the rules and regulations, which we need to follow and apply in our day-to-day lives.

Modern-Day Challenges: Disrupted Sleep Cycles and Improper Eating Habits

Sleep cycle disruption occurs when one goes to bed at 12 or 1 AM and wakes up at 8 or 7 AM. We all know that getting enough sleep is essential for maintaining good health. According to a study, the human body needs seven to nine hours of sleep. But all we’re doing is ignoring it. The body will eventually begin to degrade if we don’t give it the right amount of rest, which will then naturally affect other everyday tasks and have a bad impact on life.

According to American writer and nutritionist Adelle Davis, “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a beggar.” She believes that a heavy meal in the evening can disturb sleep and cause indigestion. I have added this statement because I want all the readers to take note of the proper eating style. Disturbing the proper eating amount not only creates severe illness but also irritability and sleep disruption. Recently, studies show that 63% of people are having their dinner after 10 p.m. However, scientists advised that leaving at least three hours between eating supper and going to bed is essential. Are we doing it? Keeping this time interval consistent can help in the normal digestion of meals by our bodies, but if we don’t stick to it, we may have indigestion and other digestive issues.

Fast food is a new trend that has been around for the last few years, and everyone is enjoying the taste of it. Many of us in our daily lives are skipping our breakfast meals in favor of street foods, which can lead to heavy health-related issues. Homemade foods are being replaced by fast foods, which have not only attracted teenagers but also younger generations. It will not have an immediate effect but can create problems in the future. Problems like metabolic diseases, overweight, hypertension, violence, and so on can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. The unhealthy lifestyle has an impact on the relationship as well. Many people struggle with time management because of their chaotic lifestyle, which may also impact other types of work. They become stressed out as a result of this issue, which makes them sick. We can now understand how important a person’s lifestyle is; if we don’t lead a balanced lifestyle, we will be surrounded by a variety of issues and illnesses.

The Solution

So, what is the solution? Maintaining a healthier lifestyle is the best way to solve this issue. A healthier lifestyle may be maintained by following a few basic and easy rules, such as getting enough sleep, eating a balanced meal, exercising frequently, and maintaining time management. One famous quote by Benjamin Franklin is, “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” Even with everyone leading busy lives, it’s important to follow the rules to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Getting the right amount of sleep helps us stay joyful and active while also recharging our body and mind. It also gives us more energy for our everyday tasks. We now see how crucial getting the proper quantity of sleep is to our lives.

The most important aspect of lifestyle is diet, which directly and favorably affects health. A poor diet and its effects, such as obesity, are prevalent health issues. Aristotle said, “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body.” Exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle for treating general health issues. Constant exercise and a nutritious diet improve one’s health. Several studies emphasize the link between an active lifestyle and happiness.

So, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential for both physical and mental well-being. By adopting these simple habits, we can surely improve our quality of life. Applying these practices can help us reduce future health issues and promote a happier and more fulfilling existence. This may look like a small step, but every small step leads to greater heights at a point in time. Therefore, by doing a few basic things, we can improve our lifestyle and put our chaotic lives back on track.
