The wind was blowing and there was rain in the sky. One dark autumn afternoon, I ran from the outskirts of Shanghai to my apartment.

When I passed a wasteland, I heard a string of whining dogs crying, mixed with intermittent barks, which sounded sad and harsh.

On the wasteland there were wild decaying grass and rustling poplars. A lone grave was full of people, mostly scavenging children, looking at the small tin wall beside the grave; The wall is also surrounded by people, a bent, head close to the wall gap, as if are snooping inside the secret.

I approached curiously, where a dog was barking bitterly; But suddenly there was a loud bang through the air, and at the same time the cry was silenced.

I pushed my way into the crowd, found a small opening, and began to peer in. It turned out that it was a "dog prison", every day from the streets and alleys were caught with iron carts to the wild dogs are locked up here, at this time someone is executing the death of wild dogs.

I had a good position; I could see everything clearly inside. On one side of the cell there was a door, with a little place marked out by barbed wire; Beyond the barbed wire perimeter, dozens of wild dogs of varying sizes wandered aimlessly back and forth.

Their eyes glowed strangely. The tail hangs down. Like a pack of hungry wolves. But their eyes were begging, and their looks evidently lost their composure; He wandered helplessly, whimpering like a SOB. Some looked sideways at the man inside the barbed wire, their executioner, and then raised their heads to heaven, and barked desperately, as if begging for sanction; others walked fearlessly along the edge of the tin wall, reached the corner, and, after a moment's hesitation, threw themselves at the top of the wall, in an attempt to escape the doom, but the wall was too high, and the jump ended in being dashed to the ground. A man came out of the barbed wire, holding a bamboo bar with a flexible wire ring on the bar head.

Usually have heard many "righteous dog savior" kind of story, when the man broke into the dog group of the moment. They quickly rose from my memory, and thinking of the genius of dogs, I could not help worrying for the man: I thought he might be surrounded by the fugitive dogs. But then I knew at once that it was a ridiculous worry, for as soon as he ran out of the wire, the dogs ran away in surprise.

The man moved towards a big yellow dog, which only backed away. When he got close to him, he opened his mouth sulkily and angrily, but he had already been calmly raised by the man and ensnared his head and neck with iron wire. His fellow soldiers watched him being pulled into the barbed wire, and then wandered back and forth without a plan, weeping.

The yellow dog struggled with all his strength and whined bitterly, but he could not move because of the bamboo. Another, with a strange pistol in his hand, held it to his head; Boom! The yellow dog's eyes turned white and he fell down silently. The man threw it aside, where a dozen bloodied dogs lay piled up.

I smell a pungent smell of blood.

The man ran out of the wire again, and this time caught a black dog that was a little toady. ... I watched the tragedy of being slaughtered one after another, and at last cast a despondent glance at the dogs who were whimpering, groaning, and wandering aimlessly, and hurried away from the wasteland.

The whine came from behind, and I was a little sad. There is a strange animal in the world, they have a gift of wisdom, but this wisdom is only used for stupid loyalty to the master; But not in the habit of social defense. I have seen the end of the dogs: as with the yellow dog and the scrappy black dog, one by one, till the last.

I had a trance to visit the hell side of life.

The sky looked dusky and low, and I was afraid it was going to rain.
