I had a dream when I first started writing online.

I fantasised about living wherever I pleased. I fantasised of being able to write about anything that piqued my curiosity. I fantasised about working the hours that were most convenient for me. I fantasised about having a vast audience who would read anything I wrote on the spot, allowing me to sustain myself financially.

The majority of writers begin in the same way.

If you're being honest, you probably began off with some of the same basic goals. But that isn't how the internet works. In fact, no other writing platform operates in the same way. In truth, there is no such thing as a successful path.If you want to be a top tennis player, you must begin at the bottom, refine your skills, and work your way up. If you want to be a wealthy and well-known industrialist, you must start on the factory floor and work your way up, learning the industry from the ground up.

It's the same with writing. You must master your craft through trial and error as well as research into how the business operates.

These are the four most common errors made by writers. I know because I made every single one of them.

You must consider how people use the internet to find information.

The internet is used for two primary reasons:

1. To communicate with others via email, messages, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

2. To look for answers to questions on topics that they are interested in.

To put it another way, the internet is a source of information and communication for authors.

Consider how you, yes you, go about finding knowledge.

You type a search term or phrase into the search bar of a search engine such as Google or Ecosia, a tree-planting search engine. After that, you'll be given a list of options to choose from. You skim over the first few responses, hoping for a title that hints the answer you need.

You click on the headline and rapidly peruse the content to find the details that are of interest to you. You don't read significant portions of text unless you've determined you want to learn more about the subject.

The takeaway is that you should provide your material in easily digestible portions with plenty of scannable headlines.

Furthermore, your headlines should always imply that there is more useful information underneath.

Your responses must be specific and/or one-of-a-kind.

Your title was chosen by readers because they believe it will lead them to the answer they want.

They're looking for highly specific information that will tell them exactly what they need to accomplish. When such information is unique to your response, article, or narrative, readers are more inclined to stay and read the entire thing.

This is why your research is so crucial. You will win your readers' gratitude if you can save them time. Then they may applaud, like, or start your response.

It's also why any unique information you provide in your response will be helpful to your visitor and will win them kudos.

Your response doesn't even have to be original as long as it's delivered in a new and fascinating way. I once came upon a question that was answered in three distinct ways. I didn't agree with the first two responses. The third response sparked my interest and got me going.

You must pay attention to and act on feedback.

Because it works so rapidly, the internet is fantastic.

You frequently receive immediate feedback on the articles you submit. This is your audience communicating with you. They're letting you know exactly what they want. "This is good," a simple "like" says. "Give me more of the same on this subject."

"This is a good point that I find of value, conveyed in a way that resonates with me," highlighters left on your articles say. Make a list of all the highlighted phrases and sentences.

Leo Burnett, the legendary copywriter who founded the world's largest advertising firm outside of New York, used to maintain a manila folder on his desk where he kept notes of phrases and sayings people said that rang true. In his advertising, he employed those phrases. They contributed significantly to Leo's success as a Mad Man.

Read what a reader says in a remark or reaction to one of your posts, consider it, and thank them. Responses are an opportunity to engage in a conversation with your readers, to learn more about what they want and how they want the information presented.

To generate genuine money on the internet, you must first become well-known.

Don't run or be afraid; it's not at all frightening.

Everyone who makes a lot of money on the internet is well-known. In this regard, the internet is identical to the traditional publishing sector. The most well-known authors sell the most books, and the most well-known journalists have columns in the best-selling publications. Because we regard them as experts, we read their material and listen to their broadcasts.

That is the key to achieving internet celebrity: you must establish yourself as an authority.

I write a lot about writing since it is a means for me to learn more about the subject and become an expert. Because I've been studying Mind Mastery for over 40 years and practising it as a coach for 25 years, I write a lot about it.

To become well-known on the internet, you must first identify your subject and then continue to write about it.

Very Important lesson

I received a private message on my Twitter account a few days ago. The sender was curious as to how much money I make from writing on Medium.

I inquired as to why he required such information.

He stated that he wanted to know how much money he could make as an online writer.

I warned him he couldn't expect to make any money. The four abilities I've listed in this article will have a direct impact on your earnings:

1. Present your data or storey in a way that readers/visitors can understand fast and simply.

2. Provide one-of-a-kind and/or specific information in a novel way.

3. Take feedback into consideration so you may learn what your readers enjoy and dislike.

4. Become a well-known expert in a particular field.
