Greenhouse farming is a new thing these days. Folks who are interested in growing crops or plants might think of it as a great idea. Greenhouse kit can help folks grow and experiment with different types of vegetables and fruits. Greenhouse farming also helps to provide all the essentials that are required for growing vegetables. The inside of a greenhouse is designed in such a way that it allows the plants to grow perfectly through the help of warm environment and protects the crops from harsh climatic conditions. Check my garden and patio to know more about greenhouse farming.

Here are some advantages and disadvantages that are associated with greenhouse farming

Advantages

  • Increased production of crops and plants through the aid of greenhouse is pretty possible. Greenhouse allows the users to grow large number of crops and plants as it provides the perfect climatic conditions that are required for growing the different species of plants. Greenhouse provides sufficient area where multiple crops or plants can be planted with essentials that are needed for their sufficient growth. A greenhouse protects the plants from harsh climatic conditions which might not be suitable for the plants. Thus, increased growth of vegetables and fruits is a great advantage associated with greenhouse farming.
  • Another advantage associated with greenhouse is disease and pest control. Greenhouse kit and the barrier allow the users to grow in vegetables and plants that can be protected well from animals like rodents and squirrels that are freely found in an open space. Also few staff members enter into the greenhouse thus the chances to bring in disease related essentials close to the crops minimizes as well. Greenhouse closely monitors the crops and does not allow any rodents or pests to enter in. The need to use pesticides over the crops also reduces to great extent
  • All year growing is another advantage associated with greenhouse farming. You can grow different types of plants or crops regardless of the weather. This means that during winters you can grow in summer-related crops because greenhouse tends to provide all the warmth and coolness required to grow in summer associated crops. However in summers you can grow winter-related crops by providing adequate warmness and closure to the plants. This way you can grow different varieties of crops efficiently and enjoy the taste of all-time or all-year crops as well. Thus this is a major reason why folks prefer greenhouse farming.

Disadvantages

  • One of the major disadvantages associated with greenhouse farming is to choose the adequate site or place where one can construct the greenhouse perfectly. The location of your greenhouse matters a lot. Your greenhouse must be constructed over the site where sufficient sunlight can reach towards the plants because sunlight is needed for photosynthesis. However during extreme summer days you need shade in the form of a cover or trees to provide shade to the plants. Too much sunlight can literally retard the growth of the plants thus making a huge mess for the users using greenhouse kit.
  • Temperature and ventilation management is another concern. During the cold chilly nights you need some sort of heat to stay inside the greenhouse to protect the plants and crops. Placing heaters either electric or manual is a good option but once you turn them off the area can become cold once again. During summers the heat inside the greenhouse becomes trapped and you need proper ventilation system to let adequate flow of air passing evenly through the greenhouse of yours. Installing ventilation system properly inside the greenhouse is another high level game and requires special attention to let the plants grow well
  • Pollination is another major concern. Tomatoes need pollination before they turn out to be a fruit. One of the concerns is that we keep the inside of the greenhouse dry and create little or no wind for pollination. To avoid this issue you can use pollination tools to speed up this process. But to control the machines you need an operator to do so which requires extra attention. Bumblebees are considered as great source of pollination. For this you need a box of bees or hives to start the process but all this requires a lot of thought and hard work as well.

Conclusion

Greenhouse farming is indeed an ideal hobby or task to grow healthy and organic plants for one. You need proper ventilation and heating essential to allow high growth of plants and crops. Spending a little extra initially can save you from future hassle and issues.
