Here are 12 mind-bending facts that challenge our perception of time:

1. Star Wars and the guillotine: The first Star Wars movie, released in 1977, coincided with the final execution by guillotine in France, which took place in September of the same year. This marked the end of the use of the guillotine and the death penalty in Western Europe.

2.Birthday time zones: Time zones can create interesting scenarios where people born at the same moment may celebrate their birthdays on different days. For example, due to the time difference between the United States and Australia, it can still be morning in the US while already the next day in Australia.

3. Cleopatra and McDonald's: Cleopatra, the famous Egyptian queen, lived during a time when the Great Pyramid of Giza had already been standing for over two millennia. Surprisingly, there is less time between Cleopatra's birth in 69 BC and the opening of the first McDonald's restaurant, which occurred in 1955, than between Cleopatra and the construction of the pyramids.

4. Whales older than Moby Dick: While Herman Melville wrote the classic novel Moby Dick in 1851, some species of whales, like the bowhead whale, have an exceptionally long lifespan of up to 200 years. This means that some whales alive during the time of Moby Dick could still be alive today.

5. Time-traveling plane: In a quirk of time zones, a plane traveling from Auckland, New Zealand, to Honolulu, Hawaii, took off on January 1st, 2018, and landed on December 31st, 2017. Although it may not be true time travel, it creates an interesting situation where the passengers experienced the same day twice.

6. President John Tyler's grandchildren: John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States, was born in 1790. Remarkably, two of his grandchildren, Leon Gardner Tyler Jr. and Harrison Raffensperger Tyler, are still alive today, despite the significant time span.

7. Warner Brothers and the Ottoman Empire: Warner Brothers Studios, known for its film production, was established in 1918. This was during a time when the Ottoman Empire, which had a vast territorial reach, still existed. The Ottoman Empire lasted until 1923 when it was replaced by the Republic of Turkey.

8. Queen Elizabeth II and US presidents: Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, has seen 16 different US presidents during her time on the throne. She ascended to the throne in 1952, during the presidency of Harry S. Truman.

9.Tiffany & Company older than Italy: Tiffany & Company, a renowned jewelry company, traces its origins back to 1837 when it was founded as a stationery and fancy goods store. It wasn't until 1853 that the name was changed to Tiffany & Company, with a focus on jewelry. Italy, in its current form as the Italian Republic, was established in 1861.

10. Human history on a calendar year: To put the vast timeline of Earth's history into perspective, imagining it as a calendar year helps. In this scenario, humans would only appear at 11:35 p.m. on December 31st, highlighting how relatively recent our existence is compared to the age of the Earth.

11. Perception of time: Our perception of time can often lead us to associate certain events with specific time periods. However, these facts challenge those preconceived notions and demonstrate how interconnected and surprising historical timelines can be.

12. Closer to 2033 than 2000: As time moves forward, it is easy to forget how quickly the years pass

These facts challenge our understanding of time and highlight the fascinating connections and disparities between historical events.
