The End of Technology Near the Day of Judgment — A Divine Reality

The modern world is full of rapid progress, scientific discoveries, and astonishing technological advancements. Artificial intelligence, rockets, robots, the internet, and space exploration all seem to prove human genius. Yet, the undeniable truth is that no matter how advanced mankind becomes, before the power of Allah Almighty, all technology will collapse in an instant.

Islam teaches us that when the Day of Judgment approaches, not only will human pride be shattered, but the entire system of the world will fall apart. It will be a day when no machine, computer, mobile phone, or atomic power will be of any help.

In the Light of the Holy Qur’an

Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an:

“When the sun is folded up, and when the stars lose their light, and when the mountains are made to move, and when the earth throws out all its burdens…”

(Surah Al-Takwir: 1–6; Surah Al-Zalzalah: 2)

These verses clearly describe that the natural order of the universe will be overturned. The sun, our greatest source of light and energy, will lose its brightness. The earth will tremble, and the mountains will move.

When such cosmic events occur, how can man-made technology survive? Electricity, networks, satellites, the internet, vehicles, and aircraft—all depend on this natural system. When the sun fades, the atmosphere collapses, and the earth quakes, no technology will function.

In the Light of Hadith

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The Hour will not be established until knowledge is taken away, earthquakes become frequent, time passes quickly, trials appear, and killing becomes widespread.”

(Sahih Bukhari)

This hadith indicates that before the Day of Judgment, human intellect and true knowledge will disappear. Even though worldly information will increase, spiritual understanding and moral sense will vanish. Technology will advance, but humanity will be morally and spiritually destroyed. Eventually, Allah will command that every system cease to function.

The Collapse of the Scientific World

Even from a scientific viewpoint, technology depends on the earth’s resources, electricity, energy, and atmosphere. When the earth quakes, the skies tear apart, and the stars scatter, no machine, satellite, or digital network can survive.

That will be the moment when mankind realizes his complete helplessness. The technology he once took pride in will fail him utterly.

The Fall of Human Arrogance

Today, humans have reached the moon, sent missions to Mars, and created artificial intelligence to make decisions. Yet when the final hour comes, all of this will vanish.

The Qur’an states:

“And remember the Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a scroll is rolled up for the writings.”

(Surah Al-Anbiya: 104)

This means the entire system of the universe will be rolled up and ended. Humanity will stand powerless before its Creator.

The Scene at the Final Hour

According to Hadith, at the moment the Day of Judgment begins, people will be busy in their daily routines — some in the fields, some in markets, some in business — when suddenly a terrifying sound will echo across the world, shaking everything.

That will be the moment when power systems will shut down, phones will die, the internet will disappear, and vehicles will stop. No one will be able to contact anyone. The entire world, once filled with noise and technology, will fall completely silent.

The Real Lesson

The end of technology near the Day of Judgment teaches us a profound lesson: humans should never be proud of their inventions.

All of these are temporary; man’s true purpose is to worship Allah and prepare for the Hereafter.

Technology can serve humanity, but when man begins to see it as his strength or power, it turns into arrogance — and Allah does not love the arrogant.

Conclusion

The destruction of technology at the end of time is a declaration of one eternal truth — this world is temporary.

No matter how powerful mankind becomes, only Allah is supreme.

That day will come when every invention, every power, every piece of knowledge, and every form of technology will fall silent, and only one voice will echo across the heavens:

“To whom belongs the Kingdom today? To Allah, the One, the All-Powerful.”

(Surah Ghafir: 16)
