John Jezzini on How Businesses and Charities Can Unite This Holiday Season | Los Angeles, CA
Collaboration is key to making the most out of your giving during the holiday season.

One of the best ways to keep your spirits up during a difficult holiday is by doing good for others. This year, various communities have come together to help those in need. As the holiday season approaches, many people wonder how their local businesses can make a significant impact. Here are some tips to help your company do good this year.
Choose Carefully
It’s always better to choose a cause you’re passionate about; you’ll be more engaged and motivated to make a difference. It could be something close to your heart, such as COVID-19 relief, or it could be evergreen and has a strong appeal.
As you start thinking about a cause, make sure that it fits with the mission and goals of your organization. For instance, if your target audience sells to parents, a children’s charity might be a good fit.
Customer Participation
There are many ways that businesses can give back to the community. One of these is by making a flat donation. However, you can also reach out to your customers and encourage them to participate.
People tend to purchase items that offer a better social benefit, which means that a portion of your profits can inspire them to spend more. You can also create a donation campaign that allows you to match the contributions of your customers.
Try Volunteering Virtually
Typically, volunteering involves taking on physical activity and providing personal service. However, if you cannot physically commit to doing so, consider other ways to give back to the community.
You can create a virtual space that allows your customers to participate in spreading holiday cheer. For instance, if you usually deliver presents for a local kids’ charity, you can create a virtual wrapping party that’s designed to coincide with your activity. You can also link to the organization’s website to learn more about how your customers can participate.
Align with Holidays
One of the most effective ways to promote your campaign is through social media. For instance, on #GivingTuesday, consumers tend to focus on charitable activities during the holiday season, which is the ideal time to hold a special sale or event. You can also ask your customers to pledge to make a monetary contribution to a specific charity.
