The moment my husband told me that I was pregnant, I knew my life would never be the same again. In that instant, all the doubts and fears about how having children would change my life melted away, and I knew that becoming a mother was truly the best thing I’d ever done. The love of motherhood is truly an indescribable feeling that brings so much joy and purpose to my life children.

My experience becoming a mother

Like many women, my husband and I struggled to have children for years. We had no history of infertility in our families so we assumed it would be easy. But after trying for several months with no success, we began to suspect that maybe it wouldn’t be as easy as we hoped. Our doctor recommended some tests and when they came back negative, she suggested that perhaps we just weren’t meant to have children. We were devastated because at that point we truly wanted nothing more than to become parents together. After talking about it for a few days, my husband and I decided to try one last time before throwing in the towel...and sure enough, our first try was successful!

The reason why being a mom changed me

The love of motherhood is truly an indescribable feeling that brings so much joy and purpose to my life. I’ve always known I wanted to be a mother, but it wasn’t until after getting married and trying several times to have children. After spending 10 years on infertility treatments, my husband and I were blessed with a miracle: We got pregnant without any help. Although we will never know what struggles might have awaited us had we been able to carry our baby, knowing that we made it through those challenges together makes us stronger as a couple – even more in love than ever before. And as much as my son has changed me, he’s also brought out sides of me that would have remained dormant had we not had him.

How becoming a mom prepared me for life's challenges

As much as I knew being a mother was what God wanted me to do, I had no idea just how much it would change my life. Becoming a mom has taught me so many lessons and strengthened my faith in ways that are so unique to having children. One of my favourite Bible verses (Proverbs 31:10) says that an excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. Having been blessed with three daughters and my husband, Keith, by my side as we raised them through every step of their lives has made me into an excellent wife. My faith was tested and grew stronger each time we faced challenges or setbacks. Life wasn't always easy raising three little girls all at once!

My favourite things about being a mom

There are so many reasons why being a mother is my favourite thing that it's hard to choose just one! I love my little girl, but there are also so many aspects of being her mom that is enjoyable. My day starts with her crawling into bed and snuggling next to me - it's still hard to believe she's here and not just a dream! She brings me so much joy; I'm so thankful every day for her.

Advice on being a mom

Being a mom was one of my greatest dreams. As an only child, I love being surrounded by lots of little people (especially since my children are now all grown and gone!). And while it’s been tough at times, I wouldn’t trade any of those hard times for anything. My kids gave me purpose, they showed me love and taught me so much about myself. Today, they call me Mommy. That may sound silly to you – but to me, it’s true love! You see...the love of motherhood is truly an indescribable feeling that brings so much joy and purpose to my life.

Tips on how to handle the tough days as a mom

Raising children isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. That said, not everyone gets to be a mother, so if you are blessed with kids, take solace in knowing that you're about to begin one of life's most fulfilling experiences. The first few months or years won't be easy, but remember: It does get easier over time! As your kids grow older and you gain experience as a parent, you'll realize that parenting truly can be some of the best years of your life. Here are some tips on how to handle them.

My best advice if you're thinking about starting your family

____ ____ ____ __, but don't get discouraged if you have trouble right away. It took us four years of trying before we were able to conceive and it's been worth it. Having my daughter has made me happier than I ever thought possible. _____ _____, so much so that I feel like my heart will burst with love every time she wraps her arms around me! If there's one thing I want other women to know about motherhood, it's that once you become a mom, your life becomes completely centred on your child(ren). You'll probably never be more proud or in love with another human being as you are when they're born. There are no words for how happy they make you and how much joy they bring into your life. If anyone tells you motherhood isn't t worth all of the sleepless nights and stress-filled days, just remind them how lucky they are not to be parents yet because those things fade away quickly once your baby arrives. As long as your child is healthy and happy, everything else seems unimportant in comparison.
