First, I want to tell everyone that I am not a photographer. I am still submitting my entry for this challenge. My husband and I moved from the urban area of the twin cities, Minneapolis, and St. Paul, in Minnesota, in 2012 to farm country in the north, between Grand Rapids and Hibbing. Since that time, I have seen herds of deer, skunks, hundreds of different kinds of birds; including eagles, hawks, and owls, foxes, porcupines, mink/weasel, ground hogs, field mice, mosquitos, wood ticks, bees, wasps, fly’s, ants, frogs, crickets, bats, and other unidentified critters. I believe I saw a mountain lion twice. I have seen many dogs, cats, horses, cows and chickens, alpaca, mules, ducks, and other farm animals. My grandchildren, living just down the road, have six pets for six household members. I think the pandemic has done something to them and others. People that never had critters now have one for every person in the family. And some people take their critters everywhere. And after mentioning many of the animals I have seen in the last several years, I do not have a decent picture of any of them. My photo for this challenge is very disappointing. Please excuse me. I intend to work on my photography after totally embarrassing myself here.
My granddaughter that goes to day treatment at a farm each week, knows all the names of the critters on that farm. She loves going. I thought maybe I would share a picture of something at the farm, except she is on a break from farm. Then, I thought maybe I may save a turtle crossing the road from getting crushed by a car. No, I have heard many turtle stories, including how my daughter rescued a turtle with a snail on his back. That would have been perfect for this challenge. Probably not a winner, and still better than what I have. My husband has a bear picture in his photos somewhere of the bear climbing his deer stand. I thought it probably needs to be my photo. Should I or should I not was my next thought?
I take pictures of deer in the field where I live and wild turkeys and birds, and they have not been special. So, then I remembered taking a bad photo of something unusual that I have not yet identified and that others have not identified either. I saw it twice. The critter would look my way but I could not get close enough for a decent picture. As much as I tried, I could not get a good picture of the critter. I do not believe it was a baby anything. I shared the photo on Facebook and the closest I have gotten from that was a critter with mange. Maybe a wolf. Maybe a dog. So, what do you think?
My six-year-old granddaughter asked me to ask Coyote Peterson, or Nathanial Peterson as she was convinced that he would know. Even though that was the first time I had ever heard of him, I thought why not and then I could not figure out how to contact him. Next my seven-year-old grandson, asked Alexa for strange animals and after looking at what came up on his tablet, both my granddaughter and I thought we may have nightmares. So, here you go. Not much but all I have to show. I am not much good at editing either and have no real photography experience as I am sure you can tell.
Then, as I was trying to capture a hummingbird from a friend’s feeder, my friend offered up their new camera and I thought, no way do I want to attempt to use their camera. Of course, I refused nicely. All I could think of was all the bells and whistles. I have enough trouble operating my phone camera and every time I get used to one, I get a new phone and it starts all over. Right now, I cannot figure out the video recorder on my phone and I don’t have enough space to store anything anyway. I seem to have downgraded without realizing I did that. I would love to get feedback about what this terrible picture is of this poor critter. I haven’t saw him recently, so I’m hoping he or she is better and off living their best life.
