The Tree Is Still Up!

My Christmas Tree is a Manga Tree!

Everybody says it's bad luck to keep your tree up after Christmas, but I don't believe in superstitious stuff like that. Stuff like if you break a mirror you get bad luck for seven years or it's bad luck to open a packet of crisps the bottom way up. I don't believe in it, but it's nice to giggle and talk about them. I don't have to listen to it though. My home: my rules!

I know I will get pestered to take it down, but I don't really want to. The more they pester me, the more I want to keep it up. People say that I am being stubborn about it, but it's not illegal to keep my tree up for this long.

There's already enough stuff going on in the world and we are all busy people. We've all got to do things our own way. To be honest, I can't be bothered to put the tree down. I think it looks nice and I think I should keep it up until I feel like I should take it down. I live alone and I don't have anybody to answer to but me.

Maybe I will take it down in the future to redecorate and move things around, but for now, I am happy where it is and how it is. I know Christmas is over, but Winter is far from over. I don't know why, but our winters always feel long and hard.

I haven't put my Christmas tree down from the holidays and I don't think I will for a while. I like how it looks, it's decluttered my space and it looks really nice. It stands out, it feels creative. And the tree doesn't just have to be a Christmas Tree. I am calling it a Manga tree or a geeky tree. I have a lot of keyrings and plushies that I had collected over the years on there. I used to spend a lot of money on cute trinkets like these, but now I am becoming more frugal. They make great decorations for the flat and also brought some colour to my bed and shelves, but on the tree, they look and feel right.

The tree combines all of my favourite fandoms: Pokemon, Beauty & the Beast, Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon, Pusheen, Digimon, Harry Potter and many more. It represents a bubbly part of my personality as well as my childhood. I like to think that I am a creative person and I hope this tree reflects that. It took me a long time to get everything for this tree and it would be a shame for me to take it all down just because it's January. Who says it's got to be just a Christmas tree anyway. There's nothing wrong with repurposing it into a geeky tree.

Our family cat went missing a few weeks ago. He hasn't come home, but people have let us know they've spotted a ginger cat. So far, no leads. I hope that he is either out there somewhere or somebody without social media has taken him in. I feel like I don't want to take my Christmas tree down until he's home.

Also, the image of Christmas trees makes me happy. It's always sad to take it down. And having the Christmas tree up keeps me happy. The tree is giving my flat a positive vibe and it's what I need. I've been going through a difficult time and it's helping me stay strong through these rough and challenging times.

I'm going to enjoy my manga tree for just a little while longer.
