The Lies we say to ourselves
Comforting lies or myths can provide emotional support, motivation

I think sometimes reality is harder than what we would want it to be, in these instances we prefer lies to the truth or even reality. We would prefer to convince ourselves that a lie is the truth, simply because we can’t face the facts of that reality.
Sometimes, lies or comforting myths can provide emotional support or motivate individuals, even if they aren’t strictly factual. Here are some examples of lies or myths that people often prefer over the harsh truth:
1. “Everything Happens for a Reason”:
Many people find comfort in believing that events in their lives, especially negative ones, have a purpose or are part of a larger plan, even though life can be very random and chaotic.
2. “You Can Be Anything You Want to Be”:
This motivational phrase inspires people to pursue their dreams. While it’s important to aim high, practical limitations such as skills, opportunities, and circumstances can affect outcomes and hold you back whether you like it or not.
3. “Money Can’t Buy Happiness”:
While money can’t buy happiness directly, it can provide security and opportunities that contribute to well-being. The saying encourages people to value non-material aspects of life and take their focus away from money.
4. “Good Things Come to Those Who Wait”:
Patience is a virtue, but this saying can overlook the importance of taking proactive steps to achieve your goals. It provides comfort by suggesting that waiting will eventually lead to positive outcomes thereby recomforting people in their inaction as being something useful.
5. “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”:
While resilience can grow from overcoming trials and adversity, not all experiences lead to personal growth, and some can cause lasting trauma. This phrase helps people find strength in difficult times and keep pushing forward even when thats not the actuality.
6. “True Love Will Find You”:
The belief that love will happen naturally without effort can be comforting, but building and maintaining relationships often requires active effort, communication and practical actions.
7. “Everyone Gets What They Deserve”:
This idea supports a sense of justice, but in reality, life isn’t always fair, and many factors beyond one’s control can influence outcomes. It provides solace by suggesting a moral order imposed by nature.
8. “You Look Great!”:
People often use this lie to boost someone’s confidence or make them feel better, even if the person isn’t looking at their best. It’s a social nicety aimed at maintaining harmony and positivity nevertheless remains a lie (sometimes) said out of empathy.
9. “Age is Just a Number”:
While age can influence physical and cognitive abilities, this saying encourages people to pursue their passions and not be limited by societal expectations related to age.
10. “It’s the Thought That Counts”:
This phrase is used to appreciate the intention behind a gift or action, even if the result isn’t perfect. It promotes the value of effort and goodwill over material or practical success.
These examples highlight how certain comforting lies or myths can provide emotional support, motivation, and a sense of order, even if they aren’t entirely factual or based on reality.
Its important to point out that we are emotional creatures as well and a lot of our existence is based on our emotions which ultimately guides our actions. So these lies a very much necessary to keep us going and working in the right direction. With the right motivation, even the weakest of person can push through all the unsurmountable odds to become excellent. Sometimes delusion is needed as well to move forward.
Conclusion
You can’t also rid yourself of empathy, some of these lies do provide a positive effect on the people they are said to, an evil for a good. There is a balance which has to be found where we all thrive while not deviating too much from reality.

Ignorance is bliss to some. I enjoyed this very much. There are some things I think I would rather not know, and hold the lie to make life “easier”. The lie is my spoonful sugar at times.. lol but great piece of work Jema 😌
