The garden of secrets
Whisper and tell your unholy secrets
Dear mother,
Would that I were brave enough
As those before me who with intrepid pluck
Bared their secret for all the world to see
Those fearless, lion-hearted and heroic daredevils
Audacious and courageously bold
They faced the devil head-on, and overcame
Their shame, trepidation and tense misgivings
Fully confessing their deep dark deeds
Is it not easy to confess the silly little tricks though
The crashing of the car, the breaking of your
Very expensive Ming dynasty vase
Than, to reveal the really dirty deeds and still
Expect to face the world refreshed and renewed
With no accusing eyes, real or imagined focused upon
Your guilty personage
If I never liked my mother
I could regale her with all the deep dark deeds
That I Spitefully orchestrated jut so I can
Rub it all in her face first chance I got
But If I care deeply about my mother
And wish her to maintain a radiant heart
Is it my right or prerogative to oust the flame
Of such a joyous, happy and ebullient soul
I have a secret to tell you
It may not even be a secret at all
Just really, let us pretend that this secret
Will somehow, make a big difference
In the matted texture of our relationship
Some secrets, if you tell them
Frees your mind in fun and joyous ways
Other secrets, if you tell them
A little piece of your soul dies within
In that place where secrets go to hide
Some secrets should remain there and be
A secret!
Let only one and her embattled conscience
Be the keeper of some awful secrets
Let many be the participants of gleeful secrets
That titillate and tickle the fancy in fun and frolic
Happy are the days of those who laugh
Leading to bright days and peaceful nights
For some, telling a secret has no stigma
For me, telling a secret withers my soul
Let us agree to disagree
About the spilling of beans
Instead mother, let your soul glow
Our souls glow with the beauty of life
For we are Mothers
We manifest, emerge, perceive, emanate and flow
Across the universe in a never ending cycle of
life, birth, strength, kindness, fierceness and guile
Like lionesses we protect the young of the pride
We unfold in many shapes, forms, and contours
We ache, make mistakes, we laugh and cry
Our tears soothe the earth and renews it's strength
We keep the secrets that are too painful to be voiced
In the sad places within which we hurt each other
Let your soul's glow cover the universe with love's
Sweet breath, giving newness and rebirth
To the wonders that be
Secrets, listen closely, yet quietly mother
I shall whisper only this in your ear
For which I shall surely win no prize
My secret, that which I neglected to
Tell you in life is not really a secret
It is that
I love you mother
Secrets
They can be lovely little things too
I kept my dark secret my dear mother
For what point is there to confessing
When you are not here to cry and commiserate
Telling me that you understand my choices
For paths lead to paths yet unexplored
You are not here to say that you wish I had chosen
A more traditional or easier path to self
You would not though, for cruelty is not for you
They will not accept the fact that I kept my secret
They will relegate me to the dungeon of Not Telling
I know that you will understand and silently smile
Waiting for the day we meet again wherever you are
When secrets will no longer be a thing
Only laughter and joy forever into tomorrow
