Salute to Key Glock for Remembering a Boss
The rapper deserves respect for holding down a fallen boss

When you have an underboss who can still hold down the memory of a boss, that’s a beautiful situation. Rapper Key Glock’s simple message on social media that he’s “not okay,” shows the bond he had with his late mentor, Young Dolph.
The pair were already familiar as cousins by marriage. Over time, Key Glock made such an impact on Young Dolph, the latter had gifted him his convertible Mercedes-Benz.
As label mates, they traded bars on collaborative projects like Dum and Dummer (2019), and deepened their respect for one another.
When Young Dolph was gunned down, the grief weighed heavily on Key Glock. But despite the sudden void in his life, the Paper Route Empire (PRE) capo kept the flame lit for his supporters, updating them so they’d know how he was doing after his short stint away from social media.
For being a champion of his leader as he fell, Key Glock stands as the Mark Antony to Young Dolph’s Julius Caesar. The closeness these men shared showed how a subordinate is supposed to hold down the superior.
Key Glock made his own sound distinct from Young Dolph’s, solidifying his position as a worthy man of his word and honor. By creating a different rhyming pattern and a voice for his gritty lyrics, Key Glock has brought up his weight class.
In the wake of tragedy, he used his mind to show how he is challenging what people expect of him.
Most folks want him to be bitter and salty about how his boss was taken out of this life. Instead, he has risen above all that. He demonstrated power and resolve when he used Instagram to send his message to his supporters.
The underboss has been prevalent in hip hop since its inception. Cam’ron’s “capo” to his “don,” is Jim Jones in the Diplomats and the next man in line in G-Unit after 50 Cent is Tony Yayo. This dynamic amongst the figures in the rap game has sustained the genre.
With Young Dolph’s death, Key Glock will play an important role in the whole presentation of PRE. It will take time for Glock to fully understand the reality and gravity of what has transpired. He will be looked at as the one to ascend the throne of PRE.
Glock will probably continue to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders for a long time to come. Like a lieutenant in the field whose major met his end, it will be up to Glock to march on under the PRE banner.
His lessons will weigh out the loss of Dolph. Glock will have the chance to differentiate between what Dolph wanted to do and his own plans. After the funerals and memorials, Glock may have to choose between carrying on his mentor’s plans for the label, or charting his own course.
Key Glock should be commended for being the main one to assume control over the Empire. The worth of the company may be rolled over to him. It may be tied up in a trust. Whatever the case, Glock’s ability to remember the man who made him wealthy and noteworthy to the degree he has achieved.
Ahead of anyone’s well wishes and questions, Key Glock might commit himself to a 501 (c) (3) organization to institute a plan for youngsters to go to school for free or start essay contests. It’s all up to this honorable individual. Since the streets have no love, Glock could demonstrate how he can be a force in the lives of anyone willing to remember and hold down a boss.
