Dear Dad,
Remember the times you stopped me from running into busy streets. Remember all the times you read every single word on my school essays to let me know what I can do to make it better. Or do you remember the times I simply said I liked a snack and you bought me 10 more the next day. These are some little things that I won't forget even when I'm grown and have a family of my own. However, I am not only grateful you helped keep me safe, or made sure I was healthy but I'm additionally grateful to be the person you shaped me to be. Therefore, here is my token of appreciation to you.
While growing up it seemed like you were a single father. Yes we had mom but I think it's safe to say she was quite an obstacle. Ning and I are the two youngest out of the five of us and I was able to see how you were present and prepared all the time. It was only when I became a teenager when I actually realized the things you have to do as a parent. For example , how you made our medical appointments, bought our food, or took us to school even when it was on the same bike. So not only did you take care of all of us but you had to raise a child 5 times from baby to adult.
You've done gymnastics when you were younger, your best memories were in the Military, and your passion is martial arts. I think the coolest fun fact now is how you can do a full split at 61. Doing that always shocks people along with your combo strikes in martial arts. You inspired the two brothers of the family to join the Military because of how much fun you were able to experience. Now both Kuya Jun Jun and Kuya Jr found success within the Military living their lives with their new families. I'm still in highschool but because of you I was still inspired to join JROTC and learn how to be motivated. When I grow up I want to be in the Medical field and give back.
Not only are you capable of doing all those physical things but you are also knowledgeable too, especially about deeper things in the world. History is one of your favorite subjects so whenever I bring up things from class I'm always surprised you know what I'm talking about. On top of that, you're able to teach me even more about what I just learned. I previously brought up how you were an officer but I haven't forgotten you're also a paralegal which takes great literacy skills. Working two jobs just shows you can do both. Action and work in an office.
Freedom and trust are big things you give all of us and I believe that when you put trust into a person it creates a strong connection. Perhaps that is why you are everyone's favorite person. You work as an officer so you are protecting lives everyday including the lives that can cause danger. You have the ability to see the good in someone who makes bad decisions. The stories you told me how you stopped criminals from doing wrong things and how you again, put trust. Considering the trust you put in, it was able to make the criminal make a decision that's better for everyone. So not only have you shaped me but you have shaped other people around you as well.
A quote I know you look up to is “No limitations, as limitations”-Bruce Lee and that quote really has a strong meaning to not limit yourself. Given this quote you were able to achieve so many of your goals which has also shaped me to be persistent no matter what situation. Even if the world doesn’t give back to what good you put in you never saw that as your main focus. Remember you helped one of your friends who became homeless for a bit, you didn't expect anything back. You just always show selfless service anywhere and anytime.
In winter it's you who shovels, in fall it's you who rakes, in summer it's you who waters our plants. Even if it seems I can't give much to you now I want you to know how much I care for you too and I am grateful for you to have raised me. You are a key person to who I am today and you are one of the reasons I want to push above and beyond in any case scenario whether it's in school or at home. Today I am someone who now has confidence and determination. Because of you, I am an Honor roll scholar at school and a cook at home. You are a father, a brother, an uncle, and a best friend and I know you will never be forgotten. I'm proud to call you my dad and like you told me, you're proud to call me your daughter. With your kindness and goodwill you make the world a better place, you are my hero not only for me but for anyone around . I appreciate everything you, and like I say everyday. I love you dad !
Sincerely,
Your daughter
