It Happened On An Airplane Ride

Since that time, no more trouble!

On a trip to Texas for a Mary Kay convention, I was excited and couldn't wait to see Mary Kay; it was only the second time I had flown. I was with a good friend and she had flown more than I had. After we had taken off, I started to feel ill. I did not remember getting sick the last time I was flying.

My friend knew that I had been sick on boats and in the car if I was riding in the backseat. My friend quickly pointed out the barf bag. She explained that sometimes it is necessary to use those as when the seatbelt signs are on we can not leave our seats to go to the restroom.

It occurred to me after I started to feel sick on the plane that it is probably no different than being sick on a boat or in the car's back seat. The thing I didn't know was that there are medications people will take for it.

I called for the steward and let him know that I was feeling sick and that I get car and boat sick. I told him that I only flew one other time. He asked if I wanted Dramamine for motion sickness. I was close to throwing up so I agreed to the medication.

When the steward came back the seatbelt lights had come on and I had already barfed in the barf bag that was supplied. He apologized for taking so long. He took that bag and handed me the pill with a glass of water.

Before I finished the water I barfed again. This time on myself and the floor. I didn't have a barf bag and I didn't have time to get another. We rang the bell for the steward. He wasn't sure that the Dramamine would work and so he quickly brought me another with a clean barf bag.

The steward gave me items to clean myself and he had materials to clean the floor. He was a great help and he was quick in getting it all cleaned up. It was apparent that this had happened before and he was good at helping with the mess.

Just as soon as everything was cleaned up, the seatbelt light went out and I could go to the bathroom. I was no longer feeling sick to my stomach, however, I was feeling sleepy. I told my friend that I would be taking a little nap if I could.

My friend was shaking me awake as we pulled up to our gate. I slept through the flight and landing. I was moving pretty slowly as we left the plane. Later that night my friend described me as moving around the airport like a zombie.

She said, "I couldn't leave her anywhere. And when I did, she just sat there and started to fall asleep again." My Dear friend and I had a roommate that we didn't know and when we got to the room, my friend started to have a reaction similar to one she has from cats.

It turned out the roommate had won a rabbit coat as a prize from Mary Kay cosmetics and she had to put her coat in her pink Cadillac for the rest of the trip. I think she planned to wear it to an event. We didn't see any others wearing rabbit coats though so she didn't feel bad.

After that trip I realized I can't take Dramamine or Benadryl and I have only taken Benadryl with chemotherapy once and I was able to sleep through the entire treatment time. I can take meclizine now and still sleep but don't have the drowsiness or the zombie moves that I had with Dramamine.

My friend and I make quite the travelers.

I can understand the excitement on seeing Mary Kay, I am sorry you had to go through an ordeal before hand. 😊It’s also nice to read non fiction for a change. 🥰
