Find yourself

Know where you are

By Richard ZhongPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Looking back, I seem to have been lost for many years, and I don’t know where my meaning is, and I don’t know what I really want to do in my heart and what I like to do. This question has troubled me for a long time. It seems that at a glance, the front is like a vast sea, and there is also a gust of wind that changes direction from time to time. Know where to go. So, my heart is more and more eager to establish the direction, I want to become a giant ship and sail forward firmly, no matter the wind and rain, I will stand still!

Confusion may be an inevitable problem for our twenties. Confusion is not really scary. What is scary is that confusion makes people lose the motivation to act, the determination to break through the predicament at hand, and the courage to find themselves.

Finding myself is a very easy word to say, but what I have to face is the vast darkness. I think, to get out of this dark night that seems to see no way, there is only the endless desire for light in my heart. Endless longing is not a momentary impulse, nor is it a restless restlessness, but a force that turns into action. If you want to walk your own path, you can only try to put one foot in front of the other again and again, you may end up with blood blisters on your feet, or you may end up blocking the road, but never Stop.

Action is a good medicine to stop bleeding. I used to fall into the misunderstanding that before deciding to do something, I always thought about it, struggled for a while, and then made up my mind and determined to do it. However, things are constantly developing and advancing in the negation of negation. Many things can be answered by thinking, or the advantages and disadvantages can be obtained by thinking. However, thinking is not a panacea when it comes to self-seeking. Thinking is more based on the summary of knowledge and experience that one has learned in the past, and limited knowledge has great limitations, and naturally there are limitations in making judgments. I think if you haven't found your true desire after careful consideration, then action can be a good medicine to stop the bleeding.

Action is not a blind action, but a thoughtful and planned action. The reason why people are confused is largely because they are faced with too many choices, and they do not know what they want. This may be the paradox of choice. After careful consideration, I still can't find what I want from many choices. The remaining method should be to try different choices, refresh my cognition, and make my own judgment under the new cognition.

Often, the more choices we face, the more difficult it is to make a decision, so it is important to let go of choices. Try different options, not all possibilities. Our time and energy are limited. It is impossible to try everything before deciding what you like. The result will only be a shallow taste. Do nothing. Find the two that are the highest in your heart among the many options, plan well, and test them through action.

Searching for oneself is the level of self-worth pursuit, and it is the top level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, so we should keep the bottom line when searching for oneself. Keeping the bottom line is to protect the basic needs of human beings. We have physical, security, emotional and other needs, and we have more material needs in contemporary society. Therefore, in the process of finding ourselves, we must stick to the bottom line, and we must not blindly pursue ourselves and lose the basic elements for building a happy life.

We all aspire to be a giant ship, ride the wind and waves in the vast ocean, and become the focus of attention. But the road of life is not a broad avenue, but a wide or narrow, winding road. In the journey of pursuing ourselves, we will find that the scenery along the way is the most beautiful, and cherishing is happiness!
