Epistolary

A poem in letter form .A friendship to ourselve and someone else …….

By Rimsha Ashraf Published 3 years ago 3 min read

My dearest friend,

It is with the utmost pleasure

that I sit down to pen these words,

to share with you my heart,

my thoughts, my joys, my fears.

For there is nothing quite so sweet

as the art of letter writing,

of committing one's soul to parchment

in ink that lasts through time and tide,

through fire and flood and age.

It is an ancient art, to be sure,

said to have been invented by

a certain Arab scholar and poet,

who wished to send secret messages

to his beloved across the miles.

And so I too now send this missive,

in the hope that it may find you well,

that it may bring some cheer

to your heart, some comfort to your soul.

For though we may be parted

by distance, by time, by circumstance,

we are yet bound together

by the magic of the written word.

And so I shall not weary you

with petty details of my days,

of the weather,Dear Future Self,

Greetings from the year 2023, a time of great change and transformation. As I sit down to write this letter in the form of a poem, I can't help but wonder what the world will be like when you read this.

Will the skies be clearer, the waters cleaner, the forests greener? Will war and conflict be a thing of the past, or will they continue to plague us as they have for centuries? Whatever the future may hold, I want to share with you some reflections on our present moment.

The world is a beautiful and complicated place, full of light and darkness, hope and despair. We have made tremendous progress in science, technology, and social justice, yet we still face so many challenges.

Climate change threatens our very existence, inequality persists in every corner of the globe, and basic human rights are violated daily. We are a strange species, capable of both great kindness and cruelty, both love and hate.

My dearest friend,

As I sit down to write to you,

I cannot help but feel anew,

The warmth that your friendship brings,

And the joy that from your presence springs.

It has been quite some time,

Since we last shared a rhyme,

And so much has happened in our lives,

That it truly feels like a surprise.

The world outside is ever-changing,

And yet some things remain unaging,

Like the beauty of a morning sunrise,

Or the love that shines through tear-filled eyes.

I hope this letter finds you well,

And that you’ve been able to quell,

Any worries or concerns you may hold,

As I know sometimes life can be bold.

But in the midst of all the chaos and noise,

I find solace in the simple joys,

Of friendship, laughter, and love,

And the grace that flows from above.

So here’s to you, my dear and faithful friend,

May our connection never bend,

And may the years bring us even closer

Dear Epistolary,

What art thou, fair and charming form,

That capture hearts and minds so warm?

For when I read thy gentle lines,

I feel my soul begin to shine.

Thy letters bear a sacred seal,

That fills my heart with joy and zeal.

For in thy words, I find it true,

That love and hope are born anew.

In every stroke of thy pen,

A story waits to sparkle and bend,

With tales of hope and tragedy,

And human bonds that set us free.

From ancient times to present day,

Thy form has kept its heart and sway,

Dispelling doubts and fears away,

And bringing solace all the way.

Thy power is not just in the ink,

But in the thoughts that you help us think,

For in thy pages we find a friend,

Whose caring words will never end.

Epistolary, lovely name,

Your power is one of love and fame,

For when we write or read your fare,

Our hearts.

Friendship
