She walked in, unaware, with a soul so pure,
A fragile heart, untested, innocent, unsure.
Her world was still light, untouched by the weight,
Of the cruelty men weave, of the lies they create.
She had no reason to doubt, no cause to suspect,
That the world could turn dark, or hearts could neglect.
A simple bagel, a sip of soda in hand,
A sweet gesture of kindness — that’s all it began.
She smiled, trusting, believing the words,
Not seeing the venom wrapped up in her words.
She was new, fresh, a spirit so bright,
Unaware of the shadows creeping into the light.
And then you spoke, your voice a silk thread,
Leading her gently to a room where she’d dread.
A room so quiet, so full of deceit,
Where innocence and truth are crushed under feet.
She didn’t know, couldn’t know, what was coming,
For you knew how to make her heart keep drumming.
With each step, you charmed her, took her hand,
A lie after lie spun in a soft, false band.
She believed you were kind, that you cared, that you’d wait,
That nothing would harm her, that love could be fate.
But you, oh you, knew her trust was a key,
And you turned it with ease to set your desire free.
You took her — not gently, but with hungry hands,
Stealing from her the things no man understands.
Her purity, her trust, her delicate grace,
Gone in an instant, erased without trace.
Her body, untouched, was now bruised and torn,
The girl she once was, now broken and worn.
Can you hear her? The scream in her chest,
The agony silent, the pain, the unrest.
Her world, now shattered, her heart split in two,
Her innocence gone — and it’s all because of you.
You thought she was nothing, a pawn in your game,
But you never saw the cost of the shame.
You took something she never knew could be lost,
Without a second thought to the irreversible cost.
A kiss, a touch, a word so sweet,
But you buried the truth in your selfish deceit.
And when it was over, when she was alone,
You left her there, heart cold as stone.
But do you hear it? The silence she screams,
The weight of your actions, crushing her dreams?
Do you feel the knife you drove in so deep,
The wound that’ll never allow her to sleep?
Do you see the girl you turned into a lie,
The girl whose soul you stole, and left to die?
Her trust is gone, her light turned to ash,
Her laughter a memory, her spirit a crash.
And yet you walk, unmarked, unscathed,
Oblivious to the wreckage you've made.
You never see her, not really, not once,
You don’t feel the truth, you don't know what you’ve done.
She’s still there — in the space where you left her,
Fading, broken, with nothing to tether.
Her innocence, her grace, her belief, all stolen,
Like a breath that once filled her lungs, now swollen
With sorrow, regret, and the agony you made,
Her heart now a shadow in the life you betrayed.
So tell me, where does your conscience go,
When you know the cost of the blood you sow?
You took her, but it’s you who’s been destroyed,
For you killed the innocence she once enjoyed.
And no matter how far you think you can run,
The girl you ravaged — her fight has just begun.
You thought you could break her, and maybe you did,
But you’ll never escape the truth you hid.
She’s not the one who’s lost — it’s you, can't you see?
For the girl you murdered is forever free.

A poem that explores trust and innocence. I particularly liked how you describe the heroine's innocence, who carries within her a "heart so pure." It makes the reader think. :)
