Punjab Kings Donates ₹33.8 Lakh to Aid Flood-Affected Communities

Punjab is currently facing one of the most severe floods in decades, causing widespread destruction and immense suffering across the state. Torrential rains, combined with swelling rivers such as the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi, have led to extensive waterlogging, worsened further by dam releases from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. According to official reports, over 3.5 lakh people have been affected, more than 1,000 villages are submerged, and approximately 61,000 hectares of farmland have been inundated. In response to this humanitarian crisis, the Indian Premier League team Punjab Kings (PBKS) has stepped forward with a significant contribution, donating ₹33.8 lakh to support flood relief initiatives. Under its “Together for Punjab” campaign, PBKS has partnered with trusted organizations such as the Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India to ensure that its contributions reach those most affected by the floods. The funds are being used to purchase inflatable rescue boats, which are not only vital for immediate rescue operations but will also serve as permanent disaster-response tools for future emergencies in the state.

A PBKS official commented on the initiative, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by floods in our state. We are teaming up with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India to support those affected. Our contributions will help flood victims and aid recovery efforts across Punjab.” The donation will specifically go towards providing clean drinking water, essential supplies, and medical assistance to affected communities. By helping establish a structured system for emergency management, PBKS aims to ensure that Punjab is better equipped to handle similar crises in the future.

In addition to the direct financial support, PBKS has also launched a fundraising campaign on Ketto, seeking to raise ₹2 crore for ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. The funds collected through this campaign will be directed to The Global Sikh Charity, which has been actively involved in assisting flood-affected communities and supporting rebuilding work across the state. This initiative is designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to support longer-term recovery, helping families rebuild homes, restore livelihoods, and recover from the immense disruption caused by the floods.
