NPL Mini Auction Player Registration: What You Need to Know
The NPL Mini Auction 2025 registration is open to all players who were released by the eight franchise teams following the first season of the NPL. This includes players who may have had limited opportunities or were part of the initial squads but are now free agents. Beyond these released players, fresh talent and new entrants who did not participate in the first season are also eligible to register.
This inclusive approach allows a broader pool of cricketers to showcase their skills and earn selection, increasing competitiveness and raising the overall standard of the league. It also helps franchises find hidden gems and promising young players who can contribute significantly in the upcoming season.
When registering for the auction, players must choose a category that best reflects their experience, achievements, and potential:
- Grade A: This category typically includes established players with proven records in domestic or international cricket. These are the marquee players who have consistently performed at a high level.
- Grade B: This group features players with moderate experience or those who have shown potential but may not yet have fully established themselves.
- Grade C: Reserved mainly for emerging talents, rookies, or players new to professional cricket looking to make their mark in the NPL.
The categorization ensures a structured and fair auction process, allowing franchises to target players based on their strategic needs and budget.
To participate in the NPL Mini Auction 2025, players must register through the official NPL website. The registration fee is set at NPR 1,000, which covers administrative costs and confirms the player’s eligibility for the auction.
The registration window closes on July 22, 2025, and no late registrations will be accepted beyond this date. Players are encouraged to complete their registration promptly to avoid missing this important opportunity.
Ahead of the mini auction, three teams — Karnali Yaks, Pokhara Avengers, and defending champions Janakpur Bolts — have retained seven players each. The remaining five franchises have retained six players each. This retention process affects which players are available for the mini auction, adding competitive excitement as released players vie for auction selection.
In the previous NPL season, 426 players registered for the auction, but only about 150 were shortlisted after a rigorous selection process by the NPL Preparation Committee. This ensures only the most competitive and promising players enter the mini auction.

The exact date of the mini auction has not yet been announced but is expected to take place in August 2025, based on CAN’s annual cricket calendar. The league itself is tentatively scheduled for November or December, giving teams and players adequate preparation time post-auction.
For players and fans alike, the NPL Mini Auction offers a chance to witness emerging talents and strategic team-building as franchises prepare for an exciting second season of Nepal’s premier domestic T20 competition.
