Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are enjoying one of their most successful seasons in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. A major part of RCB’s identity over the years has been Virat Kohli, who has stayed loyal to the team through highs and lows for 18 seasons. Despite being the top run-scorer in IPL history and consistently performing at a high level, an IPL title has always eluded Kohli. This year, many fans and former cricketers believe that might finally change.

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary recently shared his thoughts on Kohli and RCB’s journey this season. According to Tiwary, if RCB wins the IPL this year, it would be a fitting tribute to Virat Kohli’s hard work and commitment. He even compared it to the iconic moment in 2011 when India won the ICC ODI World Cup for cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. In that tournament, India’s victory was seen as a way to honor Tendulkar’s long service and contribution to Indian cricket. Tiwary believes Kohli deserves similar recognition in the IPL.

Speaking to Odisha TV, Tiwary said, “With Gujarat Titans losing to Chennai Super Kings, RCB now has a better chance of finishing in the top two. It looks like everything is finally aligning for RCB to end their long wait and lift the IPL trophy.” He continued by saying, “Virat Kohli truly deserves this after putting in so many years of effort. There’s no one who deserves the IPL trophy more than him. Just like India won the 2011 World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar, this could be a moment where RCB wins the IPL for Virat.”

Tiwary’s comments reflect the thoughts of many cricket fans who have watched Kohli’s career grow over the years. Known for his intensity, passion, and unmatched dedication, Kohli has remained with RCB through many ups and downs. Despite the team’s previous struggles, he never left for another franchise. That loyalty has earned him immense respect in the cricketing world.

RCB’s performance this season has also been impressive. With eight wins in 13 games, they have already secured their place in the Playoffs. Unlike in past seasons where RCB often relied heavily on a few players, this year’s squad appears balanced in both batting and bowling. They are playing with unity and strategy, which has been key to their consistent results.

However, RCB is not done yet. Their final league match is against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and a win could boost them into the top two of the points table. That’s important because finishing in the top two means a spot in Qualifier 1, giving them two chances to make it to the final. But their fate also depends on other teams’ results. Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings must lose their upcoming games for RCB to move higher in the standings. Gujarat is set to play their final group match against Chennai Super Kings, while Punjab Kings will face Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in their remaining fixtures.

RCB fans are hopeful that everything will fall into place. For them, this season isn’t just about winning a trophy — it’s about honoring a player who has given his all for the franchise year after year. If RCB does win the IPL in 2025, it will not only be a major achievement for the team but also a historic and emotional moment for Virat Kohli and his millions of supporters.

This IPL season has been great for RCB. Kohli's loyalty is amazing. It'd be awesome if they won for him, like India did for Tendulkar in 2011. Do you think this is the year RCB finally breaks through? And how do you think Kohli's leadership has influenced the team's success this season?
