
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo or simply CR7, is a Portuguese professional football player. He was born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time.
Early Life and Career
Cristiano Ronaldo grew up on the small island of Madeira, Portugal, in a working-class family. His father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, was a kit man at a local football club, and his mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, worked as a cook. Ronaldo was the youngest of four children, and his family struggled financially.
Despite their financial difficulties, Ronaldo's family was very supportive of his football career from an early age. Ronaldo began playing football at the age of eight, and by the time he was ten, he had joined the local football club, Andorinha. He quickly caught the attention of scouts from larger clubs and was signed by Nacional, one of the top clubs in Madeira, at the age of 12.
In 1997, Ronaldo left his family to join Sporting CP, one of the top football clubs in Portugal. At Sporting CP, Ronaldo quickly established himself as one of the top youth players in the country, and in 2002, he made his senior debut for the club at the age of 17.
Ronaldo's performances at Sporting CP attracted the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe, and in 2003, he signed with Manchester United for a fee of £12.24 million, a record for a player of his age.
Career at Manchester United
Ronaldo's time at Manchester United was highly successful, and he quickly established himself as one of the best players in the world. He helped Manchester United win three Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League title, and one FIFA Club World Cup title.
Ronaldo's breakthrough season came in 2006-07, when he scored 23 goals in the Premier League and helped Manchester United win the title. He was also named the PFA Players' Player of the Year and the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.
In 2008, Ronaldo had his best season yet, scoring 42 goals in all competitions and helping Manchester United win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. He was awarded the Ballon d'Or, which is given to the best player in Europe, and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year.
In 2009, Ronaldo left Manchester United to join Real Madrid for a then-world record fee of £80 million.
Career at Real Madrid
Ronaldo's time at Real Madrid was even more successful than his time at Manchester United. He helped Real Madrid win four UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, and two FIFA Club World Cup titles.
In his first season at Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored 33 goals in the league, breaking the club's previous record of 31 goals in a season set by Ferenc Puskás. He also won the Pichichi Trophy, which is awarded to the top scorer in La Liga.
Ronaldo's best season at Real Madrid came in 2014-15, when he scored a staggering 61 goals in all competitions, including 48 goals in La Liga. He won the Ballon d'Or for the second time in his career and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year for the third time.
In 2018, Ronaldo left Real Madrid to join Juventus for a fee of €100 million.
Career at Juventus
Ronaldo's time at Juventus has been somewhat mixed. He has helped the club win two SerieDuring his time at the club, he also clinched the record for the most goals scored in a Champions League campaign (17) and ended the competition as the leading goalscorer on six occasions. Club president Florentino Pérez labelled him as "the heir to Alfredo Di Stéfano”, and just like Don Alfredo, he has left an indelible mark on the history of the best club in the world
