2025 NFL Season Kicks Off

So, the 2025 NFL Season kicks off today. When the season opens on Thursday, September 4th, the Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, will host the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m.

When I first heard the season was starting, I thought it was the reigning Super Bowl Champion, and the team they faced played the first game. But, I learned that isn’t the case. Since the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play their first game in São Paulo, Brazil, they will not play on opening night. And, instead, the Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5th.

Indeed, all of the 32 teams hope to become the next Super Bowl champion.

Because I’m a fan of the New England Patriots, I am looking forward to their start on Sunday, September 7th. The Patriots will open their season in Foxborough at 1:00 p.m. and will be playing the Las Vegas Raiders.

2025 NFL Season Predictions

Of course, before the season begins, there are always team predictions. However, if you saw the predictions from last year, most of those teams weren’t even in the playoffs.

So, the 2025 NFL Season has the following teams predicted to be in the playoffs.

Baltimore Ravens

Buffalo Bills

Chicago Bears

Cincinnati Bengals

Denver Broncos

Detroit Lions

Houston Texans

Green Bay Packers

Kansas City Chiefs

Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Raiders

Philadelphia Eagles

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Washington Commanders

Although the above teams are predicted to be in the playoffs, there are many uncertainties. With new players and several young quarterbacks, how well will these teams play throughout the season?

Hence, I didn’t see the New England Patriots as one of the teams that are expected to make the playoffs, which was surprising, as many Analysts expect them to be a wild-card team for the 2025 – 26 season.

2025 New England Patriots

At the end of the 2024 season, Robert Kraft fired Jerod Mayo and replaced him with Mike Vrabel. In the same way, this was not a surprise in the NFL.

Mike Vrabel had prior coaching experience with the Tennessee Titans over six seasons, during which,e he compiled a 54 – 45 record and a 2 -3 playoff record. Additionally, Mike Vrabel played for the New England Patriots as a linebacker from 2001 to 2008.

With Vrabel’s experience, he has proven he can bring value to the Patriots. Also, Bill Belichick said that Vrabel was one of the smartest players he ever coached.

Overall, there are high expectations for Vrabel’s strong defensive skills and roster strength, which should restore optimism to Patriots nation.

At the same time, the expectations for the 2025 New England Patriots are to improve from their 4-win season, and many Analysts expect them to have 8 -9 wins.

With a new leader and the offseason moves of Harold Landry and Stephon Diggs, and a healthy Drake Maye, the Patriots are expected to be more competitive.
