The Window That Faced Nowhere

Sometimes a view reveals more than the eye can bear.

By GoldenSpeechPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

In her new apartment, Mae discovered a narrow window behind a heavy curtain. It didn’t look out onto the street or another building—just a vast, endless fog.

Every night, a faint light glowed in the mist. Sometimes, she saw shapes moving—figures walking slowly toward her. One waved.

The landlord claimed there was no window there at all. But Mae knew what she saw. She began writing down what she witnessed, the people she recognized—her late grandparents, her childhood dog, even her own reflection standing outside the glass.

The climax: On the final night, Mae opened the window. Her neighbors found the curtain billowing in the morning breeze—but the glass had vanished, and so had she.
