The Village That Lost Its Shadows
The sun rose, but nothing followed
By GoldenSpeechPublished 3 months ago • 1 min read

One summer morning, the villagers of Lyran awoke to find their shadows gone. The light still shone, but no silhouettes stretched beneath them.
At first, it was freedom — no more haunting darkness, no reminders of self. But soon, things began to unravel. Without shadows, people forgot their shape. Faces blurred in mirrors. Words fell apart mid-sentence.
A traveler arrived one night, his shadow still intact. He told them:
“Your shadows didn’t leave. You left them behind.”
When dawn came, he was gone — but the village’s shadows had returned. Only now, they moved a heartbeat slower.
