THE STAIRCASE CODE: Through theMirror Darkly

Chapters.3

It was my brother's handwriting.

I was thrilled.

「Brother, where the hell are you?」I shouted with suppressed excitement.

But there was no answer to my words.

Another line was added to the white paper:

「Lucy, there are countless parallel time and space on the stairs, we are not within a single time and space, but each time and space will have an overlapping time, but each time is no more than five minutes, the time I have to talk is running out.」

「Although I have tried my best to stop it, it still managed to trick you into coming up here, you must keep in mind what I am going to say to you next.」

「This is the code I've spent two years summarizing about this parallel time and space.」

【Try not to disobey your parents, or they will punish you.】

【Don't try to open the window and shout, you'll disturb the neighbors.】

【The toilet is a safe place, you can hide in the toilet if you are in any danger, like we did when we were kids, but remember, the light in the toilet is yellow】

【Although the toilet is safe, don't stay in the toilet for more than fifteen minutes.】

【Don't look under the bed. If you see it by accident, hold your breath.】

【If you find your parents have changed into red pajamas, hide in the bathroom. They can't get in.】

【You can leave the house through the front door, but remember: we don't have an elevator in Building 4, so if you see one, please don't enter it.】

【Remember: there are no cats in the neighborhood, if you see a cat, please don't trust it】.

【...... anti】

The last rule was so hastily written and covered in heavy ink color that all I could see was the word 「anti」.

There were many other strange and completely illogical rules on the paper that I simply couldn't understand.

I hastily took out a fountain pen from my bedside and wrote on the white paper as well.

「Brother, could it be that you have been living in a parallel dimension for the past two years?」

A line quickly appeared on the white paper:

「Yes, 6 hours is the only chance you can take, otherwise even I can't say when the stairs will reappear.」

The handwriting on the last sentence became very scribbled.

「Lucy, always remember, brother loves you, you must escape ......」

The handwriting on the white paper came to a screeching halt, not even the last stroke of the word 「go」 was completed.

I knew that the overlapping of time and space had ended.

The time on my cell phone showed that it was 23:00 now.

In other words, it would be 5 am when the stairs reappeared.

I subconsciously looked down at the bottom of the bed.

The bottom of the bed was pitch black, seemingly hiding something extremely terrifying.

I immediately withdrew my eyes.

I took a deep breath and stuffed this important code into my pocket after reading it carefully once again.

Just at this time, a knock sounded on the door.

「Lucy, your father is very angry right now, I advise you to hurry up and come out and apologize to your father.」 Her mother's shrill voice rang out.

Her tone was however mixed with a weird excitement.

I bit my lip, my body shaking and warring from fear.

「Damn bitch! Get out of there!」

The door shook hard, accompanied by a loud slamming sound.

I took a deep breath and quickly got under the covers.

「Lucy, for the last time, I want you to come out of your own accord.」

My father's voice was gloomy to the extreme, mixed with resentment and malice that wasn't hidden in the slightest.

I covered my mouth with a deadly grip, not allowing myself to let out a fearful whimper.

Finally, a silence fell outside.
