The Little Black Book 2

As the journey continues

By Cheryl A Nocera Published 7 months ago 3 min read

A couple of years ago I wrote about Clark Jones' struggle with writer's block in the article The Little Black Book: What Mystery is Inside? https://shopping-feedback.today/futurism/the-little-black-book-85bise0dt6. This story brought Clark to doing more things. He did not stop with the book he wrote he needed to go further with his trusty friend the Little Black Book who was now named, The Enchanter. Yes, these two created another journey together in writing, fantasy, and friendship.

One morning Clark and The Enchanter went out for a daily walk again in the woods. Clark had another book to write, and he could not do it without his friend; so together they ventured off. While they were walking they heard birds chirping, the wind blowing, and animal sounds. Nothing like walking in nature. Clark said, "there is nothing like walking in nature to get your juices flowing". The Enchanter agreed. They were having a great time breathing in the fresh air, relaxing, and having a great time. Suddenly they heard a noise that was not like a nature noise. In fact, it sounded like an animal was dying. They continued on their walk with caution, and they heard the noise again.

Fear was starting to creep in for the both of them, because it was not a peaceful sound of nature, but a loud scary sound. This sound seemed to be directed to them. Everywhere they walked the noise got closer. The Enchanter asked Clark, " hey do you think we should turn back, it is getting kind of scary?" Clark agreed. So they started to turn back not knowing what lies ahead for them, but still the closer they got to getting out of this situation the better off they were.

As they were both walking away this odd looking animal appeared on the trail they were walking. Both of them were startled, and paused in fear. This odd looking black animal started making those horrible loud sounds again instilling more fear in them. They screamed. The animal collapsed. Clark went over to the animal carefully by slowly creeping towards it. He asked, "Are you OK?" The animal made a faint sound. Neither of them knew what kind of animal this was, but they knew it was hurt. Clark took out his phone to call the animal rescue league, and the animal hit out of his hand. Clark jumped back thinking he was going to hurt him. The animal whimpered.

Although Clark was scared he knew he had to do something. He bent down to the animal to see if he could find what was hurting him. While he was looking he found there was a bullet lodged in his back. Clark knew he could not remove it, because he is not a doctor. He had to think. The Enchanter reminded him that he had a friend that was a nurse. Clark thought about it, but there was really no other choice. He called his friend Ivan, and explained what was going on, and asked for his help. Ivan came, and between the three of them they were able to remove the bullet. Then right before their eyes the animal disappeared. OK!!! You guys saw this right, it is not just me. You all saw this. Clark touched himself thinking this is a nightmare, dream, or something. They all looked at each other with awe.

Ivan asked Clark, "Is anything normal with you?" You have a talking book that came to life, and now an animal we took a bullet out of just disappeared right in front of us. Really !!!!! And then he looked at him like What the _______. Anything else you have in store for me. Maybe flying monkeys, a ghost from the dead, no, wait I know how about a magic carpet. I always knew you were different but wow. That is all I can say.

They left the woods with awe, but knew it was going to get dark. Ivan came back to Clark and The Enchanter's house for a cup of matcha tea to talk about what happened, and possibly take the stress down. During them talking about what just happened Clark said, "I think this was supposed to happen. I really believe there is mystery in this. That animal is going to come back. I know it is." The Enchanter looked at him with a glare of are you crazy, and asked him, "Why do you think the animal is going to come back?" Clark responded, "I just do." Ivan sat speechless not knowing what to think or say.

Later that night Ivan stayed over, because now he was really involved at this point. Literally blood was on his hands. Actually blood was on all of their hands. Clark thought he heard that sound again. He jumped from his sleep, and called out, "Are you OK?"

Stay tuned to see what happens next!!!!
