The Letter Arrived 100 Years Late
It was postmarked from a town that doesn’t exist anymore.

Emily received an envelope addressed to her great-grandmother, written in perfect cursive, dated October 24, 1925.
The letter read:
“They’ve almost found the way through. Keep the door locked until 2025.”
Confused, Emily posted it online — until she noticed the return address: Hallow Creek, a mining town destroyed by fire in 1932.
At exactly midnight, her lights dimmed. The old door in her basement — one she’d never been able to open — started knocking from the inside.
When police investigated, the house was empty. On the wall, someone had written in charcoal:
“The door’s open now.”
