The Guy Who Bought Bitcoin for Pizza
The $700 million lunch.
By GoldenSpeechPublished 3 months ago • 1 min read

In 2010, Florida programmer Laszlo Hanyecz made history when he traded 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas.
At the time, the coins were worth around $41.
Today, that same amount would be worth over $700 million.
Laszlo doesn’t regret it — he’s oddly proud. He says he wanted to “prove Bitcoin had real value.”
He succeeded.
And became the patron saint of every crypto regret meme since.
Every May 22nd, traders celebrate “Bitcoin Pizza Day.”
It’s like Christmas, but sadder.
