The Elevator That Skipped the 13th Floor
You can’t skip what’s still waiting for you.

Everyone knew the Sinclair Building had no 13th floor — it jumped from 12 to 14 like countless others.
But every now and then, when the elevator doors opened between floors, passengers would glimpse something: a dimly lit hallway, peeling wallpaper, and a figure standing at the far end holding a lantern.
Security footage caught one man stepping inside. The doors closed. The elevator descended for eight hours straight before stopping — on floor 12 again.
Inside, the man was gone. Only his shoes remained, arranged neatly beside the buttons.
Maintenance later found a new button had appeared — 13 — glowing faintly.
