Scratch to Silver
Chapter 2: Sally being Sally
As the Sunday night faded into Monday morning, Sally found herself dreaming about her fantasy world riding unicorns over vibrant rainbows, alongside her imagined prince Roary. Oh, Roary lets go in a faraway land where its just the two of us.” said Sally in her dream. Roary replied, “Let’s go to a magical world where all our dreams can come true.” She was about to hug Roary when suddenly high-pitched voice of her mother spoiled her dream. Mrs. Mathew cried, “Sally wake up its 7.00 am. You are getting late for school.”
Sally, shocked by the sudden shift in the atmosphere, roused up from her deep slumber and called out, “Coming mom.” Humming her favorite song, “Boomerang” , she stepped down the wooden stairs curling her brunette locks with her fingers.
As she made her way to the dining area, her mother asked her to fetch a glass of milk from the kitchen. Lost in the thoughts of her unfinished dream, Sally failed to hear her mother’s request. Mrs. Mathew shook her and shouted, “Sally have your wits gone a wool gathering. Wake up.”
Wide eyed Sally apologized, “I am sorry mom. I will bring it for you.” And promptly rose from her seat to fulfill the request. Just before entering the kitchen, Sally asked her mother, “Mommy, what am I supposed to bring?” Mrs. Mathew let out a despairing sigh. As for what happened next, I leave it to the imagination of the readers.
Sally, after having her breakfast, eventually, reached her school which was five minutes away from her home. Unfortunately, due to an accident on the way, Sally arrived ten minutes late, missing the designated arrival time. It wasn’t her fault as she had stumbled in a puddle on the way and lost her shoe in the puddle. While struggling to find her shoe, she inadvertently soiled her clothes with mud. Obviously, she could not attend school with one shoe and dirty clothes. By the time, she managed to fix everything, she was already late though she remained unaware of it.
Upon entering the school gate, she was greeted by an unusual silence. The assembly area was deserted. She initially thought that it might be a national holiday. It wasn’t until she saw the principal Mr. Macdonald approaching her that she realized, she was mistaken.

being late to school is tough, been there done that .
Ohh! Sally's dream was wonderful, and your story is amazing. It flows beautifully, and you've left a unique mystery at the end. I'm eagerly waiting for the next part. Great job ✨🤟👏
This passage captures a whimsical blend of childhood imagination and the stark realities of daily life. Sally's enchanting dreams of unicorns and her prince Roary contrast sharply with her chaotic morning routine, highlighting the struggle between fantasy and responsibility. The vivid descriptions of her dream and the sudden awakening create a relatable scenario for many children who experience the challenges of transitioning from a dream world to the demands of reality. The unexpected mishaps on her way to school add a touch of humor and mischief, making the reader empathize with her plight. Overall, it's a charming exploration of a child's perspective, filled with innocence and the occasional chaos of growing up.
I enjoyed this Thank you
