The girl who found the magical time-traveling ring
The story starts with Danielle visiting her grandfather at his house. He knowing, his time is limited, gifts her a cherished family ring, a token of good luck passed down through generations. Little did she know, this ring would become her lifeline.
We get to know that he will not live for long and gives her a ring which has been in the family for generations and it acted as a good luck charm to him. Danielle accepts the ring with a smile on her face.
A year has passed. Danielle has been invited to a party hosted by one of her college friends. She is having a great time. The guy that she's been dancing with asks for her number so that they can meet later Danielle agrees and gives her number to him.
While the party is in full swing, she spots her friend Kylie, but soon they get into a disagreement over the job that Danielle has managed to get for Kylie at the local coffee shop where she works.
But Kylie firmly says that she had not asked her to do that for her and accuses her of not listening. Frustrated, Kylie leaves with her boyfriend.
Sometime later, Danielle nurses a drink on the couch. When she tried standing up, she felt dizzy and nauseous.
She also felt someone was guiding her through the threshold and onto a car but it was all hazy.
When she comes to her senses, Danielle doesn't recognize where she is. At that exact moment, a man comes striding through the door and offers her some crackers and water to sober her up.
Confounded, with all the bits and pieces missing, Danielle asks the man, where they are at. The man replies that they are in his guest bedroom. He further adds that her friends left her stranded after the party was over. He also tells her that he planned on contacting her friends through her phone but it was dead, hence he decided to her to his home.
Still confused, Danielle asks who is he. He then introduces himself as Edgar and that he wants to take care of her and tells her not to panic and that he only has good intentions toward her.
In the back of her mind tho, Danielle was pretty sure that her friend wouldn't leave her alone at the party especially being that drunk, and when she last checked the phone's battery it was full. She voiced her concerns out loud to him this time.
But Edgar seems confident that she's probably wrong with the battery percentage and also adds that her friends are selfish, which she knows is not true.
Danielle also finds out that she's roughly 2 hours away from her home. She requested his phone so that she could contact her friend but he said that he dropped his phone in the water.
She asks him whether he can drive her to her home but Edgar says that he has loaned his car to a friend.
Danielle becomes hysterical, it seems like whatever solution she comes up with he somehow has excuses. She informed him that she would not stay at his house. Edgar calmly explains that it would not be possible since they don't have a car, their phones are out of service now and it's pretty cold outside.
Resigned, Danielle shuts out everything but he keeps on probing her to tell him something about herself. She reveals that she is a college student studying business administration. He then went on about his accomplishments, how he works at the pharmacy, and how he owns the house which has been passed on to him because her mother has recently passed away. Unable to listen to any of it she asks him whether she can use his restroom. She composed herself and when she exited the restroom she saw him standing there and asked him whether he had a computer predictably he said that he had one but no internet connection.
Edgar then offers to give her a house tour. Then they enter the kitchen. Edgar proclaims that he can cook delicious food courtesy of taking classes and offers to make whatever she wants but Danielle refuses the offer and instead has a glass of water by herself
While he was distracted fixing dinner, Danielle tried to escape through the door, but unfortunately for Danielle, it had a digital lock, upon further examination she realized that every door in the house had a digital lock but she didn't know why. Then Edgar appears in front of her and disappointedly shakes his head. He tells her that he took care of her while she was passed out and that she was acting ungrateful, he also hoped she would be different from others.
Not listening to anything, Danielle grabs the cane by the door and attempts to strike his head, but Edgar effortlessly dodges her attempt and strangles her to death
In a dreamlike state, she meets her grandfather telling her not to give up. She looks at the ring then soon everything disappears.
Danielle opens her eyes and once again finds herself in the same bed and in the same bedroom.
Again Edgar comes striding through the door offering her the same crackers and water, she tries to harm him but he strangles her AGAIN!!
Danielle flutters as she opens her eyes. Again Edgar comes through the door but this time she asks him if she'd like to rest more. Once he left the room, she attempted to open the window but to no avail because the window had locked
But somehow he knew that she tried opening the window, courtesy of the cameras he had installed everywhere in the house.
He ushers her to the living room. Danielle asked Edgar, when will he take her back to her friends because they'd probably be worried sick.
Edgar vehemently states that her friends would not be worried about her and that he's the only one who cares for her. She discerned that something was seriously wrong with this guy.
Out of nowhere, Danielle blurts that she actually has a boyfriend but Edgar easily calls out her bluff saying that her Facebook status was set as a single and thus revealing that he has been stalking her for months on end.
He went on to say that the guy she meets is not a nice guy and they're only there for fun but that he will give her what she desires.
Dejected, Danielle tries to bond with Edgar sharing about her preference for watching short movies because she has no time to watch fuller movies what with the cusp of graduating and the part-time work.
He expressed that he'd like to start a family one day with a nice girl. Freaked out by this revelation, Danielle smashes the drinking glass on his head but she is unsuccessful, he killed AGAIN!
She wakes up once more and decides to use the bad lamp to harm him however, he knows that beforehand and he dodges it and kills her with the knife.
By the 5th time, she fetched the wooden stick to injure him unfortunately for her he knew that one and defended her move and gruesomely stabbed her to death multiple times.
When she awakened again, she moved the bed against the door to prevent him from coming inside. And also found the camera which he'd been using to monitor her and helped him to know beforehand what she was planning.
She then worked on opening the window lock by using Bobby-pin while simultaneously engaging in the conversation on the other side with Edgar. Cleverly, Danielle asks him to give her the door code so she knows that he trusts her stating that after all relationships are built on trust, and proceeds to ask him whether he trusts her.
With hesitation, he gives her the code, which she uses on the door to completely lock the bedroom door.
Edgar becomes angry and starts shouting at her. But there was something that was niggling at the back of her mind. She asks him how he came to know that she would be at the party.
Edgar replies that he has seen her profile at the Cupids Arrow a dating app and that he had messaged her but she hadn't responded. But Danielle was still confused, and she assured him that she had not linked her Facebook page to her profile and that she had used a fake name.
Edgar admits that has employed a reverse image search and found out that her Facebook profile was public and that she had mentioned that she would be at the party. She mentally scolded herself.
Meanwhile, she's successfully opened the window but gets stuck, hearing Edgar go out and kill her AGAIN
By the 7th time, she had managed to get out but painfully found out that he had put barbed wire on his property. She's gotten killed AGAIN!
On her eighth time, waking up, Danielle tries to play the long game to gain his trust. And agrees with him that her friends are selfish for leaving her alone when the party is over. When he was busy in the kitchen, then again she tried to flee via the front door since she knew the password. But she is unsuccessful in her attempt and he captures and kills her AGAIN
This time Danielle managed to sneak past into a room and find out where he had hidden in the house on his laptop and was horrified to find out that he had also installed one in the bathroom.
He had a picture of numerous dead women, sick to her stomach, she didn't know what to do. He discovered her and killed her AGAIN
When she wakes up again, she vows to use the knowledge that she has gleaned from their interaction throughout and charm him. She also expressed her desire to stay with him for a few days.
She complimented him saying that the girl he'll get married would be the luckiest. She also gained his trust slowly. While he was working on the stove, she shoved the pasta box on the floor.
Danielle apologizes for being clumsy and offers to pick it up, but ever the gentleman Edgar tells her that it is alright. Just then, Danielle threw the hot water onto his face while he opened the fridge door to cool off she stabbed him.
Then he falls down and petulantly asks why she betrays him. Danielle scoffs and says that he is a monster and a psychopath and that he is going to hell for what he has done to other women.
She went to his room and picked up her cell phone and called 911 and when she called her friend Kylie, Danielle found out that her friends had been searching for her for the past few hours.
Danielle smiles and begins telling her the story of how she got drugged at the party and kidnapped by a madman
