Reflection in the Sky and Clouds

Do you ever just stop and look up into the sky?

The sky is Nature’s fickle canvas. It can be the same every day or change in a matter of hours.

Morning view

Mornings are my favorite time of day.

Today, the sun is brilliant as it rises from the horizon, painting the sky in different shades of pink and red. I wonder how the day will end and how many paintings nature will create in the sky today.

“Red sky in the morning, a sailor’s warning”

Red turns to Blue

It does not take long for the pink to wash out and be replaced by the purest blue; not a cloud in sight.

As the day progresses, the tranquility and calm of the sky are slowly broken by an endless flow of clouds seemingly forming out of nowhere.

Clouds scattered in the sky by some divine artist with something to say.

Light and fluffy clouds almost laugh as they are whisked along by the driving winds. They change their shapes, colliding with each other to make new shapes as if the artist cannot decide what they want to say.

Some look like animals, some like buildings, and others just landscapes, but each is unique in some way.

Anger sets in

As the day rolls on, fluffy white becomes dirty grey, and peace and calm give way to threatening and menacing structures, too heavy to be anything other than dark grey lifeless shapes.

It is now grey and dull, like a person who is depressed and cannot see any light in their day. Doom and gloom as far as the eye can see.

The day has turned, and the sky has changed. What was once warm and inviting is now cold and threatening, almost begging us to look away and stop looking at it.

If we don’t, it showers us with rain, just like it has on this day. Forcing us to retreat, driven by the claps of thunder like the warning of a dog’s growl to stay away.

Clouds are like people

As I look back at the sky and clouds of today, it crosses my mind that they could be people. We are all living in an ever-changing world, just like the canvas of the sky.

Some, like those that are white and fluffy, are the happy souls that come along, but they never seem to stay for long enough.

Some just drift in and out like friends. They come along but ultimately leave and go away, driven by forces that we do not see nor understand.

The dark clouds are the people in our lives we find hard to deal with. Some are bad, others angry or confused, but we try to take shelter and hide away from them.

Night time closure

“Red sky at night, sailors delight”

There is no delight in the night sky today. There will be no super sunset to repaint the sky with pink and shades of orange and red as the sun goes down below the horizon. What was a bright start turned right around in less than a day.

Like those friends you thought were there for you, they have disappeared like the fluffy white clouds, vanishing into thin air. Dark, grey people, like the storm clouds that turned the day, enter our lives, but we wish they would just go away.

All comes to an end when nighttime falls. The sky gives way to an ink-blue sky, dark and mysterious, where we cannot see our way.

What will tomorrow bring?

What paintings will appear tomorrow?

What will the artist paint on the sky canvas?

Yes, the sky and the clouds have a lot to say about how we live spiritually. We do not control what the color will be or whether the friends we make each day are good, bad, or indifferent. One thing is for sure: just like the sky and the clouds, every day is different.

Some good, some bad, but every day is different

Till next time, thanks for reading my story,
