Bhangarh
Bhangarh Fort, located in Alwar district, about 80 kilometers from Jaipur district of Rajasthan, has always been a place of curiosity for the people. Sariska National Park is situated just a few kilometers away from this fort.
There are many temples in the fort, among which the temples of Lord Someshwar, Gopinath, Mangala Devi and Keshav Rai are the main temples. From the carvings done on the walls and pillars of these temples, it can be estimated how beautiful and grand this entire fort must have been.
Excavations by the Indian Archaeological Department have provided ample evidence that the city is an ancient historical site. At present this fort is looked after by the Government of India. The Archeology Department has given strict instructions to the tourists coming here that no person should stay in this area after sunset.
This is the history of the fort
The story of Bhangarh is mysterious and very interesting. Bhangarh Fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Das of Amer in 1573. The fort remained inhabited for 300 years after settlement. In the 16th century, Raja Madho Singh, younger brother of Raja Sawai Man Singh, made Bhangarh Fort his residence.
'Bhangarh of ghosts' became due to a curse
It is said that Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh was very beautiful. At that time Princess Beauty was discussed in the entire kingdom. Marriage proposals were coming for Ratnavati from many states. During that time, she once came out of the fort to the market with her friends. She reached a perfume shop in the market and was holding the perfume in her hand and smelling its fragrance. At the same time, a person named Sindhu Sevda was standing at some distance from that shop and looking at the princess. Singhiya was a resident of the same state and he was an expert in black magic.
The Tantrik was reportedly fascinated by the princess's beauty and fell in love with the princess and started thinking of marrying her. But Ratnavati never looked back at him.
He went to the shop from where the perfume was supplied for the princess and did black magic on the bottle which was being sent to Ratnavati and used Vashikaran mantra on it. When the princess came to know the truth, she threw a stone near the perfume bottle. Due to this the bottle broke and the perfume scattered.
Due to black magic, the stone followed Sindhu Sevda and crushed her. Sindhu Sevda died, but before dying the Tantrik cursed that all the people living in this fort would soon die and would not be born again. His soul will keep wandering in this fort only. Even today in the 21st century, there is a fear among people that Bhangarh is inhabited by ghosts.
No entry after sunset
The Archaeological Survey of India has found evidence after excavation that this city was an ancient historical site. Now the fort comes under the care of the Government of India. The team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is present around the fort. ASI has banned anyone from staying here after sunset.
