Open the window, eyes closed - Chapter 2

Hate Crooked Teeth

By Duc Le HuuPublished 2 years ago 2 min read
When you tell the secret, you'll forget your nose.

I have a crooked tooth. When I got to school, my friends said it was a rake tooth. Every time I laugh, they just point at it:

- Ha ha, that's a mess! Please let me borrow it to get rid of the lice!

From then on I didn't dare laugh anymore. I am very miserable. I hate people with straight teeth. They even pointed at me and said: "That's because you don't brush your teeth." When people brush their teeth, their teeth wear down evenly. One day, my father asked:

- Why haven't you seen me smile lately?

I say:

- Why do I have to cry, dad?

- It's simple. When you smile, your face will be radiant. The most beautiful face is the smile.

- But when you smile, you will be very ugly.

- Why so? Dad was surprised. Who told you?

- I think it's beautiful. Dad, tell me quietly! Your smile is the most beautiful.

- But how can it be beautiful when it has crooked teeth?

- Gosh! Dad laughed. Therefore, it is. Dad, I think it's beautiful! It makes my smile different from my friends. Each child has his or her own strangeness. SOMEONE has very strange eyes. Some people have a strange nose. Some people are just a finger. Just observe and you will see. You will know many secrets about the people around you.

I know a secret about the teacher: she has a pinker nose than the others. And I told her that. She was very surprised.

- Really? She rolled her eyes

- I told the truth! Her nose is very pink. I also discovered one more thing, when I opened my eyes, her eyes were really big. People with small eyes cannot do that. My dad said it's a secret. Don't tell anyone. When you tell the secret, you'll forget your nose.

- Really! Do you have many secrets?

- Yes. But I won't tell you. I'm afraid I'll forget it.

- It's OK. When you tell a secret to someone who knows how to keep it, the secret remains. When you meet me, you will remember that there are two people keeping the same secret.

And I told her my secret. I want to tell you too, because then you will keep a secret for me; When you and I meet, you will remember that secret. The story is like this: once upon a time, in a certain village, there was a child who smiled all day long. Do you know why, because it has a crooked tooth!

P/s: Each of us has a garden of our own soul. On clear sunny days, that garden will be more lush with flowers and grass dyed in golden sunlight. Surely that also helps the garden owner become happy. However, when rainy days come one after another, the garden will be heavy with accumulated raindrops. That is also a sign that the owner's soul has been "invaded" by rainwater. So how can the garden of one's soul maintain a good state even when storms come? Go find yourself a quiet and peaceful corner right from the book Close your eyes and open the window. With a very natural and poetic storytelling about the life of a 10-year-old child, the book will bring you closer to peace of mind.
