"Mam, please calm down" explained the officer on duty, "We will find your daughter, immediately!"

"My daughter, Ariel Chav, has been missing for over five days now. And every single day, you idiots, every single day, I have come to this same station and begged for action. Have you ever considered doing your job or are you too handsome?", shrieked Mrs. Chav rather fiercely. In the background, her husband was murmuring to himself. There was a "Darling" and a "Please" here and there. Mrs Chav ignored him completely, only giving her ear to the officers.

She was pouring her heart out on the front door of the police station. She and her husband, under an umbrella with autumn leaves for designs, were filing another complaint for their very suspiciously missing daughter. At least that's what they used to cover the embarrassment of their daughter, who ran away from a loving home.

.....................................

Ariel walked drowsily and kicked the leaves in her path. She has never been away from home and was absolutely devastated when her supplies were washed away in a storm. She looked up at the trees, completely yellow and red, and wondered if she could ever turn into a free, tall tree.

Now and then, sudden anger would wash upon her. If only her parents were considerate of their actions. They always wanted her to be picture perfect, like her brother. If only her parents didn't ground her for getting a 9/10 on her math test. If only they were more loving.

.....................................

Mrs Chav gave up on the police. She wiped her drenched face and cursed at them. She knew that no action was going to take place, so, made up her mind that it was her or no one that would save Ariel.

Right then, she cleared her mind and focused on one thing. Her daughter's heart. Was she scared? Was she eating properly?... Was she okay?

Mrs Chav just couldn't digest the fact that her daughter ran away... Why would she do that? "Was I too harsh?", she blurted out, "Did I offend her?"

..........................................

Ariel hid under a tree, quivering in the cold. She couldn't survive this pain and was rapidly losing hope along with warmth. She was waiting to be some princess of fire, just like in the movies, but knew that it was impossible.

She mustered up some courage to walk and kept in mind that she had to be safe, or else she would end up changing her mind and heading back home. She didn't belong in her family. Her parents expected too much and her brother kept teasing her of her weaknesses. She sang 'Mean' by Taylor Swift, being the only Swiftie in her family, and continued walking.

After loads of exhaustion, Ariel finally discovered a raspberry bush. Her stomach could devour anything at that point. She raced towards it and gobbled 100 berries in one go. She was ravenous. "These... Are...YUM!" she managed to say while eating.

This story is so in touch with reality that it brings both enjoyment and concentration out of me. I was impressed when I got to the bit where she wanted to be a tree so she could be free. It tied in perfectly into what her parents did to her. The end was wholesome and she seems to have a fun personality, even while being alone.
