Promptly after nine pm, Nautical Nida servicing the high lands, turned on her strategically place home featuring a spotlight, warning ships where her land mass began, a safe escape, rivaling, combatting, against several frozen tundra icecaps deceptively floating only a few miles away. Defining herself as a museum piece by day when everything can be seen but when moonlit skies arrive, she stands her ground, protecting a safe space, while evil fixtures imitating underground mines, spread out, building a bitterly cold choppy oceanic battle field threatening neighboring innocent human friendly water communities.

Binoculars focused, adjusting a warm coat, the knightly character guarded the late summer tranquil evening setting as the patrolling, dedicated individual observed a party boat, filled with future dreams and desires, headed for trouble. Long-distance seemed to hamper but with the challenge agreed, Nida saw a young girl wearing an athletic upper class varsity jacket along with a plastic cup in hand. “She doesn’t seem too enthusiastic about things,” Nida thought letting the scene play out.

“Why are you out here? Bumming around,” a voice shrieked instructing scholastic Nadine, ‘turn around’.

“I am not bumming around, I am just watching that light house over there provide its guidance to those travelling dark paths,”

“Ooh, that is Nautical Nida’s lighthouse, she helps lost souls find direction.”

“Really,” Nadine replied, hearing crashing sounds invading the festivities.

Back on land, Nida called out, “Leonardo, you pathetic Gatsby, get the rowboat out, we have a problem,”

“Yes, Ma’am,” a voice responded, and Nida quickly ran down the stairs, joining her faithful companion.

Pushing the canoe transportation vehicle, acting like first responder workers they took the paddles’ control. “I know those kids hit a burg, I just do,”

“Which one?” Leonardo inquired.

“They seemed very enthusiastic,” Nida paused, “I would assume the Keen one,”

“You mean, the Keensburg!” Leonardo exclaimed, realizing their motivated enthusiasm spelled eternal doom.

Within a half hour the pair reached the wreckage, determining the vessel immediately submerged under water, getting pulled down accepting Mother Nature’s grip, as judge, jury and executioner.

“It doesn’t look like anyone is around, Miss Nida,”

“All those unprepared souls did not see the cold war hazard,” Nida expressed gothic results, confirming the factual incident.

Realizing the youth, entered a seafaring graveyard despite completing all required credits, learning knowledge, receiving silent rest as a graduation gift, due to an uncomfortable setting, provided when one warring faction, got creative. Disrupting the pathetic situation, a breathing figure surfaced giving Nida and Leonardo hope that a witness would emerge strong, maturely minded.

“Someone is still alive,” Leonardo shouted, and Nida worked with her partner to reach the sole survivor, “we are coming,” they assured.

“Help me,” pleaded an individual.

Arriving beside the treading swimmer, the two pulled the lady onto the boat, “my dear, you are freezing!”

“Yes, please help me, all my friends have,”

“Perished encountering drowning depths,”

“They were dead to me earlier today and now they are actually,” the victim halted her comment.

Catching a thrown blanket stored for these type moments, the growing teenager embraced the warmth, appreciating the strangers’ kindness.

“Do you have a name?”

“Nadine,” she answered, allowing an illumination moment, capturing her facial image.

“You look just like me,” Nida noted.

“Its like you are my reflective mirror,” Nadine described taking advantage, seizing the opportunity, obtaining important detailed information.

“Leonardo,” Nida commanded, “let’s get back to the lighthouse.”

“But what about the others?” Leonardo wanted clarification.

“There is nothing we can do for them now,” Nida sadly reported and decided getting out of the chilly environment, a proper decision.

Riding the wakes which this night featured deathly results, the trio surfed their way, finally hitting the shore destination.

Anchoring the boat they all ventured up the hill arriving at the historical castle haunting landmark, quickly unlocking the combination, magically opening the door, “Kean,” Nida surprisingly exclaimed.

“I heard about the horrible, tragic event out there, and the Shakespeare in me wanted to help,”

“Start a fire, the future needs trust.”

“Already done,” Kean informed.

With a soup bowl and piping hot drink in hand Nadine stared into the eyes who were watching her every move, “I need direction,” Nadine started whimpering.

“We know,” Leonardo reassured.

“Monitored everything unfold,” Kean added.

“As for me,” Nida declared, “you are my.”

“Twin,” Kean bellowed a laugh, “and what is funny is, we are building another similar structure right next door, sending a message, discouraging those dreaded burgs.”

“If you want, while the construction takes place, I can show you the ropes in my search and rescue business, and when everything is completed.”

“You can have your own blue print version,” Kean smiled.

“Call it, Twin Lights,” Leonardo turned on the radio broadcasting offensive music selections, fending off the enemies bleak unsociable attitude attacks, “my next selection,” Marconi announced, “I’ll Melt For You”, inspiring determined Nadine to confront the new adult world adventure and making winning life’s war, a committed priority.
