Memoir | The Task Force Official | Part VI of VI

Regrettably, tragic occurrences unfold across the globe, prompting my government agency to establish a round-the-clock Task Force at our Operations Center. The task force's purpose is to thoroughly examine the issue at hand, evaluate potential courses of action, and then present its recommendations in the form of a comprehensive report.

While working at the task force, we found ourselves immersed in a whirlwind of activity, with constant phone calls, a deluge of emails, and television screens broadcasting the distressing events. People swiftly moved about the Operations Center, engrossed in their tasks.

During this particular instance, we were informed that a high-ranking official was scheduled to observe the real-time operations of the task force. We had been specifically advised not to speak with the government official, yet her footwear grabbed my attention and thrilled me!

To our surprise, the U.S. Department of Prominence Secretary arrived with her entourage, walking directly past my desk.

Now, it is worth mentioning that I have a fondness for dresses and alluring footwear.

As the Secretary came into full view, I couldn’t help but notice her captivating pair of shoes, which exuded an undeniable allure. They were irresistibly SEXY, with a capital “S.”

My excitement got the better of me, and I couldn’t contain myself. I blurted out, “Oh, my, Secretary Jane Doe, your shoes are absolutely fabulous and incredibly sexy!”

Upon hearing my comment, the entourage and others let out audible sighs, casting disapproving glances at me as if I were afflicted with a dreadful ailment.

Secretary Jane Doe responded, “I purchased these from Lord & Taylor Department Store. I should have bought another pair in green. By the way, what is your name?”

I replied, “My name is Mia Z. Edwards. I serve as an office secretary here at the U.S. Department of Prominence in the Bureau of Scientific Affairs, Front Office.”

Secretary Jane Doe smiled and said, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mia.”

I reciprocated, saying, “The honor is mine, Madame Secretary.”

The Secretary, accompanied by her entourage and the task force team leader, proceeded with their tour of the task force’s setup and received updates on the crisis.

Following the tour and briefings, the Secretary walked past my desk once again, bidding farewell. She said, “Take care, Mia.”

I responded, “Likewise, Secretary Doe.”

With gratitude, the Secretary replied, “Thank you, Mia.”
