Mah-e-Muhabat -part=3
A story about love and tradition

Episode=3
Hanam silently followed Rashida to the room, unaware of the reason for her punishment. Her innocent heart was filled with fear, and she felt pain on her cheeks where marks had appeared. Would fate teach her the meaning of "Vani" or would she create a new history?
Hanam entered the room under the guidance of 40-year-old Rashida. She looked around with her big blue eyes, taking in every detail. The room was decorated with black and red accents, with a bed, study table, and wardrobe. Hanam was fascinated by the room's decor, especially the pictures of Aktham.
Rashida told Hanam to remove her shoes, as Aktham was particular about cleanliness. Hanam obeyed and started looking at the pictures of Aktham. She couldn't help but admire his good looks.
"These are the same ones who brought me here in the car," Hanam said to herself, admiring Aktham's pictures.
Rashida applied a tube to Hanam's face, reassuring her it wouldn't darken her skin. Hanam was worried about getting dark skin, but Rashida explained it was just a tube, not a cream that would change her skin tone.
"Will it make my skin dark?" Hanam asked innocently.
"No, it won't," Rashida replied. "I promise on Hazrat Khadija's name."
Hanam's innocence and naivety were both amusing and pitiful. Rashida felt sorry for her but had to follow the orders of her mistress.
As Rashida applied the tube, Hanam winced in pain and protested, "It hurts! I don't want to apply it."
"If you don't let me apply it, I'll complain to Ammi Jan, and she won't be nice to you," Rashida said.
Hanam reluctantly allowed Rashida to apply the tube.
After applying the tube, Rashida told Hanam to stay in the room and promised to bring her food. Hanam was hungry and looked forward to eating.
"I'm very hungry," Hanam said, rubbing her stomach.
Rashida nodded and left, while Hanam was confused about where to sit. She looked around with puzzlement and frustration in her blue eyes and eventually sat down on the carpet.
"How ugly she is, that fat girl," Hanam thought to herself. "I had praised Ammi Jan, and she started beating me. When I go back to Ammi and Abba, I'll tell them everything. They'll ask me questions."
As she thought about her parents, tears welled up in her eyes. "Abba, if you hadn't left me there, I wouldn't be in this house. Why did you leave me here? I don't even know the way back home."
Hanam cried, remembering the incident with the girl who had hit her. "That girl is so ugly and fat. She hit me."
She cried until she fell asleep, unaware.
The story then shifts to Dilawar Khan's background. He was the only son of his parents, who had graduated from the city and returned to the village. His father was Arbaz, and his mother was Zurtaaj Gul. They were the wealthiest family in the village.
Dilawar Khan married a girl named Yusra from his own community, following his parents' decision. Two months after the marriage, his father passed away due to a heart attack.
After his father's death, Yusra gave birth to Ahmad, and five years later, she passed away due to cancer. Two years after her death, Aktham was born, followed by Ertasam.
Delaware Khan and Yusra were blessed with three sons but no daughters. However, when Ahmad fell in love with Aqsa, a girl from outside their community, Dilawar Khan agreed to their marriage for his daughter's happiness.
Ahmad and Aqsa were happy together, but fate had other plans. One day, Ahmad was shot by Khushbakht, who mistook him for a thief in the dark.
The news of Ahmad's death was unbearable for Dilawar Khan and his family. A jirga was held, and Hanam was given to Aktham as Vani (a custom where a girl is given to the family of the deceased as a form of compensation).
Now, it was up to time to decide whether Hanam would be treated like others or become a part of the Khan Haveli family.
The story then shifts to Aktham, who returns home late at night, avoiding everyone, especially his mother. He drives into the Haveli, hands over the car to the chowkidar, and enters the house, feeling a sense of emptiness and sadness.
As he walks towards his room, he knows he'll face Hanam again......
