Amara sat on the terrace of her favorite cafe in Singapore, stirring her iced tea as she waited for her friends to arrive. It had been two weeks since Jason’s heartfelt confession, and she still hadn’t given him an answer. Her closest friends, Nadia and Michelle, had insisted on meeting up to “talk some sense into her.”

Nadia arrived first, her curly hair bouncing as she plopped into the seat across from Amara. “Alright, spill it. What’s holding you back?”

Amara sighed. “It’s not that simple, Nadia. We’ve been through so much, and I’m scared of going through that kind of heartbreak again.”

Michelle arrived moments later, carrying a shopping bag and looking as glamorous as ever. She raised an eyebrow as she joined them. “If you’re talking about Jason, I’m going to need the full story.”

Amara recapped everything—their breakup, the chance meeting at the conference, and Jason’s plea for a second chance. By the time she finished, both Nadia and Michelle were leaning in, hanging on every word.

“Girl, listen,” Michelle said, placing her hand over Amara’s. “Life is too short to let fear stop you. If you still love him, give him the chance to prove himself.”

“And,” Nadia added with a grin, “you’ll always have us to fall back on if he messes up again. We’ll egg his apartment if we have to.”

Amara laughed, her tension easing for the first time in days. She realized how lucky she was to have such supportive friends.

A New Chapter

Later that week, Amara met Jason for dinner at the same rooftop restaurant where they’d reconnected. The city lights sparkled around them as Jason took her hand.

“Amara,” he began, “I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’m ready to build a future with you. No more running, no more excuses.”

Amara looked into his eyes, her heart pounding. “Jason, I’ve thought about everything. I’m scared, but I also know that I still love you. Let’s try again.”

Relief and joy washed over Jason’s face. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. “Amara, I’ve been carrying this with me, hoping you’d say that.”

He opened the box to reveal a stunning diamond ring. “Will you marry me?”

Tears filled Amara’s eyes as she nodded. “Yes, Jason. I’ll marry you.”

Cheers erupted from the other diners, who had been watching the proposal unfold. Jason slipped the ring onto her finger, and they kissed as the city skyline shimmered behind them.

Wedding Plans and New Beginnings

Amara’s friends were ecstatic when she told them the news. Nadia immediately volunteered to help plan the wedding, while Michelle insisted on booking them an exclusive bridal boutique for dress shopping.

Over the next few months, Amara and Jason balanced wedding planning with their busy work lives. Amara’s London colleagues threw her a surprise engagement party during one of her visits, while Jason’s Singapore team sent him off with heartfelt congratulations.

One weekend, Amara flew back to New York to finalize some details with Jason. They spent time visiting their old favorite spots—the Brooklyn promenade, the tiny coffee shop where they’d spent countless hours working on reports, and the park where Jason had once promised to teach her how to throw a frisbee (and failed miserably).

“It’s crazy to think about how far we’ve come,” Jason said as they strolled through the park hand-in-hand. “From late-night texts to planning a wedding.”

“And we still have so much ahead of us,” Amara replied, resting her head on his shoulder.

A Twist of Fate

As the wedding date approached, Amara and Jason flew back to Singapore to finalize the venue and guest list. One evening, while relaxing with their close friends, Michelle made a joking comment about how Amara had been glowing lately.

“Must be the engagement bliss,” Michelle teased.

Nadia squinted at Amara. “Or something else? Have you been feeling okay? You’ve been looking… different.”

Amara laughed it off, but later that night, she couldn’t shake the thought. Her schedule had been so hectic that she hadn’t noticed the subtle changes in her body. The next morning, she picked up a pregnancy test, just to be sure.

When the test turned positive, Amara’s heart raced. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the result, wondering how Jason would react.

The Big Reveal

That evening, Amara decided to tell Jason. She handed him a small box, similar to the one he’d used to propose. Inside was a tiny pair of baby shoes.

Jason’s eyes widened as he looked at the shoes, then at Amara. “Are you serious?”

She nodded, tears streaming down her face. “We’re having a baby, Jason.”

Jason pulled her into a tight embrace. “This is the best surprise I could have ever imagined.”

As they sat together, dreaming about their future as parents, they knew their story was far from over. Their love had already defied the odds, and now, they were about to embark on their most exciting chapter yet.
