The most important design changes Apple's next smartphones exhibit show as more specifics about the iPhone 17 family become clear.
Exclusive pictures showing the design of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max are available long-time Apple leaker Sonny Dickson. Although Apple is supposed to reveal the range in early September 2025, several of the new features are already visible right now.
Dickson's pictures probably depict machined "blanks" supplied to accessory producers before a phone's release. These let cases, holders, and other accessories be made precisely around the size of the device and the individual buttons. Although they won't reflect any software updates, they provide a clear sign of Apple's changed iPhone philosophy.
Including the Capture Button launched last year, all four variants feature the identical physical buttons. Beside the power and volume buttons is a programmable Action Button.
Among the devices on display, we can clearly view the new iPhone 17 Air. Forbes’ contributor David Phelan has taken a closer look at the new slimmer model. However, the ridiculously enormous camera bar rumoured to retain the optics while still aiming for the stylishly thin dimension is obvious in these gaps.
The iPhone 17 Air blank does suggest another revised part of the design, with the selfie camera and forward-facing sensors switched over. This is no doubt owing to concessions needed to bring in the larger back camera gear. Still, I can’t help feeling that having one phone offering a different profile is something an earlier incarnation of Apple would have battled to avoid.
