"Attic is not just about dust and old things. Some attics hide a world that is invisible to the naked eye, but forever awake behind the mirror..."

🕯️ Chapter One: Mirrors Are Doors

The only thing everyone was afraid of in our old village house was the attic. No one went there. Everyone in the family knew that there was a mirror in the attic, and if you look at it, you get lost—it was always a legend.

After Grandma's death, the attic was unlocked for the first time. None of the parents wanted to go. Everyone in the house seemed to be frozen in fear of some invisible force.

Tears were welling up in my mother's eyes. With trembling hands, she handed me the old key covered in dust.

"Oishi, you are brave, come and take a look," a strange tremor in my mother's voice.

I slowly climbed the dark stairs in the dim light towards the attic. With each step, there was a creaking sound of wood. It felt like someone's gaze was following me from behind.

"The attic was like a room of dead memories. The walls stood as witnesses to time. But in its midst stood something alive—a mirror that showed nothing behind itself."

As soon as I opened the attic door, a layer of dust flew up. I coughed for a few moments. When I raised my eyes, I saw—that mirror in the corner. After all these years, after all these stories, I saw it for the first time today.

The mirror was framed in dark black wood, with a strange design of dragons and birds carved around it. Instead of seeing the reflection of the attic in the mirror, I saw a corridor of red and gold, like a mysterious door to a distant land.

My eyes widened in surprise.

I was even more surprised when I saw a girl walking through the mirror—silently, slowly. Her clothes were centuries old, like a 19th-century Bengali woman. Her deep black eyes seemed to have known me for ages.

He looked back once, then pointed—there's something behind me.

I looked back in horror—there was nothing. Just the dusty attic and silence.

When I looked at the mirror again, I saw that the girl was no longer there. But that corridor in the mirror was now closer, as if it were within my reach.

"Have you ever stared at a mirror for a long time? When you look at it so much, you sometimes feel like the person you're looking at isn't you. Maybe you're looking into the eyes of someone from another world. Maybe it's not your reflection, but you're someone else's reflection."

I couldn't sleep that night. I kept thinking about that girl's eyes. That mysterious corridor.

The next evening I went again. When everyone was asleep, quietly. This time I stood in front of the mirror with courage.

This time the corridor was clearer in the mirror. A light seemed to be shining somewhere in the distance. I raised my hand as if enchanted.

The surface of the mirror became wavy like water. Not cold, but warm.

I slowly stepped into the mirror.

End of the chapter

I don't know where I am now. Old pictures hang on the walls of the corridor, whose eyes seem to be following me. The lights are flickering, sometimes shaking. Numerous doors to the right and left.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang from a door—as if someone was trying to get out from inside. A streak of light came out from under the door.

I grabbed the door handle, my hand was shaking...

The story is not over.

This is just chapter one.
