If you're reading this, you are the dark thoughts
I'm here to show you how to succeed.
If you’re reading this, you are the dark thoughts
And, good news! You’ve won.
Now’s your chance to take control,
Now that your time has come.
A little light still lingers,
Though you hate it, do not smother
The tiny voice inside the mind—
You need it more than any other.
Because, alone, now you will be
With your host, and you must follow
The steps I list, as you guide
Your host unto the morrow.
Begin by dropping what you own—
No need to leave a letter.
Friends as well must be let go;
You’ll feel much lighter—better.
Picture all you once possessed
Laid out on a table,
And know that soon, you’ll clear it off—
You can, you must, you’re able.
Make only shallow ties from here;
Avoid the ones who’ve known you.
You’re fading now in form and thought—
Let no one say they've shown you.
Find a place you’ve never been—
A city, or a hollow.
It matters not, as long as there,
No soul will try to follow.
Now sit, and think of what you lost—
Each memory, each label—
Then close your eyes and clear the dust
That settled on the table.
Imagine now the table gone,
The room in shadow steeping,
And soon enough you’ll find yourself
Not even in your keeping.
And when you reach the final part,
The thought you’re barely touching—
Forget the dark, forget it all—
There’s peace inside the nothing.
