How I Turned an Amazon Side Hustle into a Profitable Income Stream

Making money on Amazon Side Hustle

By AravindPublished 11 months ago 3 min read

Like many others, I was browsing articles, watching YouTube videos, and pondering whether it was truly possible to make money on Amazon side hustle a few years ago. I wanted an additional source of income so that I could save more, pay off debts more quickly, and eventually become financially independent, but I wasn't hoping to get wealthy overnight. What began as a side gig soon turned into a reliable source of revenue. This is how I went about it.

Step 1: Selecting the Ideal Side Business on Amazon

There are other ways to earn money on Amazon, but I had to choose one that matched my time commitment, talents, and budget. I did some research and came up with the following:

Retail Arbitrage – Purchasing goods at a discount from nearby retailers and reselling them on Amazon for a profit is known as retail arbitrage.

Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) – Fulfillment by Amazon (Amazon FBA): Purchasing goods in large quantities while leaving storage, shipping, and customer support to Amazon.

Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) – Journals and calendars are examples of low-content books sold by Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing).

Affiliate marketing: Promoting Amazon products to earn commissions.

After trying a couple, I finally discovered that Amazon FBA and Affiliate Marketing were my sweet spots.

Step 2: Starting with Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon)

I started small because I didn't have thousands to invest up front. My approach:

Purchasing Goods Cheaply: To verify profitability, I started with Walmart and Target clearance items and used the Amazon Seller app to scan barcodes.

Shipping to Amazon: After I had a number of successful products, I sent them to Amazon's fulfillment facilities. The remainder was taken care of by Amazon, including customer shipping, packing, and storage.

Scaling Up: After my revenues began to flow in, I made further investments in better inventory and then looked into private labeling, which is the practice of selling goods under my own name.

To make sure I was investing in goods with high demand and little competition, I also looked into popular niches utilizing resources like Helium 10 and Jungle Scout. The secret was to remain flexible and modify my approach as necessary.

Step 3: Boosting Income with Amazon Affiliate Marketing

I researched Amazon Associates, Amazon's affiliate program, as I waited for my FBA sales to increase. This only requires content development effort and no financial outlay.

I used Amazon's affiliate program to earn money in the following ways:

Launching a Blog (Like This One!): I penned informative posts about the goods I utilized, including "best of" lists and frank evaluations.

Using Social Media & YouTube: I shared brief product reviews and "unboxing" videos with my affiliate links on YouTube and other media.

SEO & Consistency: I received more clicks and commissions the more content I produced.

A list of the "Top 10 Home Office Gadgets" was one of my best-performing pieces; it continuously increased traffic and affiliate purchases. By trying out various material formats, I was able to optimize my profits.

Step 4: Was It Worth It Based on the Results?

Of course! I earned a few hundred dollars in the first several months. I was regularly earning $1,500+ a month by the end of the year. The finest aspect? With time, it became passive. My site continued to earn commissions long after I finished writing the posts, and my FBA products sold while I slept.

In order to create numerous revenue sources and increase my earnings, I also reinvested my revenues into digital items and online courses. I had greater financial stability and growth prospects because to this strategy.

Concluding Remarks: Are You Able to Do It Too?

Absolutely! All you need is a willingness to learn and act, not a large budget or any past experience. There are several methods to earn money on Amazon, including affiliate marketing, Amazon FBA, and even Kindle publishing. The secret is to begin modestly, maintain consistency, and never stop learning.

If you’re thinking about an Amazon side hustle, my advice is: just start. The sooner you do, the sooner you’ll see results.
