Part 1: It was the opposite with Avani.

I was waiting in a rickshaw for the rickshaw driver. We were at a shop to buy something when the rickshaw driver uncle went to a shop. I was kind of observing the rickshaw here and there. After that, a girl came from the street and said, “This rickshaw, are you going to Dhanmondi?

I was in shock, and I just looked at her smiling. “O, aren’t you going?” the girl said again. How much will you charge?"

I was laughing but also mad at the same time. I said, “Do you think I am a rickshaw driver?

Why is it wrong to have that thought?

You talk to a good-looking boy like me like a rickshaw driver?”

Rickshaw drivers are handsome nowadays, too. In any case, your look is not so uncommon that you can’t just recall a rickshaw driver.

I got really angry. You are a very stupid girl! They are calling me a rickshaw driver. Are you arguing on my face again? Are you just kidding me?

I said, How would you feel if I gave you two rupees?

That's strange. Do I think you're a beggar?

No, I don't think so. Now even beggars have rather a style. And you are not so weird-looking that you can’t imagine a beggar.

Listening to this, the girl got extremely furious. And she walked off, indignation bleeding and roaring out of her. I found it quite amusing. I sat down and watched the girl walk away. Yes, that girl was Avni!

Then we met again in such a strange way.

I was sitting on a park bench eating some nuts. The little boy with the nuts was sitting next to me and talking with me. At one point he said, “Brother, come look; I’ll be back in a while.”

So saying he went away somewhere. He probably went to answer nature’s call. I know the boy. "I pity him because his parents are not alive. One day I paid for some books and sent him to school. I said he needed to go to school at least three days a week. But he astonished me by attending school nearly each day. And in the afternoon he sells nuts in the park. You know, so sometimes I just give him some money so that he can have a future for his studies or spend some money.

So I am guarding the nuts. At that time, a girl came and said, Brother, give me ten taka nuts.

WEGA: At the face, I saw the girl of that time—you know, today is Avni! It taps on her mobile continuously. I understood the real story by now. This same day I saw her tapping on that mobile phone like this and was about to get into the rickshaw. This is the real problem. Children these days don't even look at anyone properly. They are always glued to their mobile phones. That is the reason they know not the difference between a rickshaw puller and a nut seller!

I said, From which angle do you think I am a nut seller?

The girl looked up. Then she startled and remarked, You!

Yes, I am. Do you think I am a nut salesman?

Would I sit with nuts and think of a barber rather than a nut seller?

If you are just focused on the mobile screen, Donald Trump also gets depressed.

Copy to clipboard Look, no arguing for the sake of arguing. The mobile is mine; my eyes are mine. To that end, I can decide how long I give the mobile my attention.

Someday, you will know, madam. And you will remember this poor person on that day. Even if the rich man's words are dull, they shall come to pass.

The girl turned and went on her way, frowning.

This was our second meeting. After that, we didn’t see each other for quite a while. So by the time we met for the third time, I failed to recognize her at all. I forgot when I met her! That’s just how I’m a little naive boy.

I was sitting in a coffee shop, talking with friends, and drinking some coffee. Then she came and stood before me and said, “Thank you.”

I looked at her in surprise. That girl looks really familiar, but I can’t remember where I saw her.

I said, "Thank you for what?"

For what you said that day.

What did I say?

Don't you remember? You didn't recognize me.

I don't recognize you at all. Tell me where I saw you.

My friends are still looking at the girl. They can’t quite digest the idea of me talking to a beautiful girl like that.

The girl replied, “Uh uh, don’t you remember? I took my first crying in a rickshaw with you.

I mean in a rickshaw! I have never travelled in a rickshaw with any girl.

Dad, I didn’t say ridden, OK? That the first time we met it was in a rickshaw. You were in the backseat of a rickshaw and I mistook you for a rickshaw driver.

Oh yes, I remember this time. Then one day you thought you were a nut vendor, didn’t you?”

The girl smiled shyly and said, "Yes, that’s right. You know what you said on that day that hit so well?

Tell me what I said.

Do you really not remember? Or are you pretending?

In fact, I am someone who forgets things in no time. So what else happens?"

The girl smiled and said, “Fine, fine.

“You’re holding on to the rear of the van, asking everyone why they’re standing,” my friend Rion said. Sit down."

It sounds like nobody else would get up except Rion, and he moved from his chair and pulled a chair from another table to sit down. And the girl sat down on Rion’s chair and said, “You said that day about tapping your mobile phone. I am extremely upset about what you said. But two days later, I got into an accident while walking and tapping my phone. I had to lie in a hospital bed for 15 days. Then I sat in bed at home like that for several days. I had to take a month and a half off. And I remembered what you said every day during that time. You Ag: “Even Donald Trump would be dizzy looking at his mobile phone all the time.”

But angrily retorted, “My cell phone is my eye.” How long I stare at it is my decision. That day you were absolutely correct. I was sick in bed when I realized my error.

I walked in and heard the girl, shocked. She was so fond of her thankfulness. What a beautiful girl! My friends were shocked to hear her speak.

I will always remember what you said, the girl said. Come..

We were just like surprised by the girl. She had left that day. But now another storm was raging in my mind. When I went to sleep at night, I was aware of that. I didn't sleep all night. The girl’s face and smile swam in front of my eyes over and over. I had awakened when the alarm bell of my heart had rung. But how do I find her, a woman I know nothing about? Where could I go and search for her?

This is my Avni. And that girl of the accident, who was emotional and arrogant, was so beautiful and simple afterwards. But here she made me fall completely in love once.

I was also in love. She has many stories. After all that pain and effort was, I met Avni again—really?

I searched for her a lot. On that street, in that park, and in a coffee shop. But I was unable to locate her. I searched a lot here in Dhanmondi but failed to find her. “I just kept looking for a week. Nothing worked.

After a week, I threw in the towel, disappointed. It could happen again when we met three times consecutively. Or it might not. Such is the luck of the draw, if that were mine. If not, it would not occur. I had given up hope.

Then one day suddenly.
